Announcing Two Occasions: The Beginning of the Blessed Month of Ramadan, and the Launch of Al Waqiyah Television Channel

Fasting is the Shield of the Believer and Khilafah is the Shield of the Ummah

O Muslims of Pakistan, the Pure, the Good! In the centuries of Islamic rule, after the era of RasulAllah ﷺ, the Khilafah state was a shield for the Ummah against her enemies. During Ramadhan itself, the Islamic Khilafah State mobilized the armed forces to achieve major victories, whilst facing formidable enemies. In Ramadhan 13 AH, […]

The Intention of Fasting

OPINION 1: It was the opinion of ibn Umar and Jaabir bin Zaid from the Sahaabah and also the opinion of Maalik, Al Layth and Ibn Abi dh’ib that it was necessary to make the intention for the fast in the preceding night in any part of it (the night). There is no difference between […]

Merits of fasting and Ramadhan

Sawm linguistically means refraining, silence, suspension and what is included in its meanings. Sawm has been mentioned with this meaning in Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى noble book. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says: فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْنًا ۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِي إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ الْيَوْمَ إِنْسِيًّا “So eat and drink and be […]

As-Suhoor – Pre-Dawn Meal

This is an extract from the book “Al Jaami’u li Ahkaam is Siyaam” (A complete guide to the rules of fasting) by Sheikh Abu Iyaas Mahmood bin Abdul-Lateef bin Mahmood (‘Uwaydhah). Please note this is a draft translation from Arabic. If any confusion arises from the translation then please refer to the original Arabic book.

Salaat-ut-Taraaweeh

Salaat-ut-Taraaweeh has been named with this name because the worshipers take a break after each four Rak’ah so they take a Tarweehah (break) and the plural is Taraaweeh. This Salaah is a form of Qiyaam-ul-Layl (night prayer) except it has been specified in the month of Ramadhaan so it represents Qiyaam-ul-Layl in Ramadhaan. The Hukm […]

The Significance of Laylatul Qadr

Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Glorious Qur’an: إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ * وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ * لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ * تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ * سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ “Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’an) down in the night of Al-Qadr […]

Syria, Ramadan and Qur’an

From the earliest days of this blessed month of Ramadhan, through our TV screens and mobile phones, we have seen countless reports of the daily bombardment and killing of our ummah in Syria. Apart from duas for them at Taraweeh and trying to send sadaqah through charity organisations, what else does the Qur’an point us […]

Ramadan: Leave ‘Entertaining’ Da’wah and Enforce Sharia and Khilafah Da’wah

Ahead of this Ramadan, Fauzil Adhim – a bestseller Muslim writer in Indonesia, wrote his dismay in a column of Hidayatullah.com regarding the Da’wah phenomenon in this largest Muslim country. He conveyed there’s a terrifying moment when more groups preach, but the Da’wah has disappeared. It’s really worrying time – when the teaching of Islam […]

Ramadan and the Battle of Badr

Ramadan is more than a month of ibadah with history showing the first generation of Muslims achieved great victories during this blessed month. All civilisations have seminal events that echo throughout the ages and are celebrated and remembered on anniversaries. The two World wars are remembered regularly in Europe, it is considered a key part […]

Ramadan – Month of the Qur’an

Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint.” (Al-Baqara, 2:183)

“O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you so that hopefully you will gain taqwa”

Fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you so that hopefully you will gain taqwa” (al-Baqara: 183)

The New Moon of the Blessed Month of Ramadan Year 1437 AH Has Been Sighted

Ramadhan Demands the Abolition of Democracy, the Guardian of Corruption, and the Restoration of Khilafah on the Method of Prophethood

Ramadhan, the blessed month in which the Quran was sent down and within which the opportunities to seek reward from Allah سبحانه وتعالى are greatly increased, previously witnessed great victories, at a time when the Ummah was blessed by a political and military leadership that feared Allah سبحانه وتعالى and was sincere to His سبحانه […]

“And Whoever from among You Sights the Month then He Must Fast it”

فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ “And Whoever from among You Sights the Month then He Must Fast it” A short number of days separate the Islamic Ummah in the East and West of the earth from the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of abundant goodness, mercy, forgiveness and the redemption from the fire. So […]
