Hizb ut Tahrir / Morocco offers to the people of Morocco specifically, and the Muslims all over the world, its warmest congratulations and blessings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. We ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى to accept your fasting, Qiyam and all your good deeds and to reward you best reward and make us all among those who Allah سبحانه وتعالى granted them redeem from Hellfire.
We also ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى to relieve Muslims who have been deprived of celebrating Eid in the slaughtered Bilad ash-Sham, the wounded Iraq, the captive Palestine and the dejected, oppressed and forgotten Burma, and all other Muslim countries. And we ask Him سبحانه وتعالى to make this Eid the last Eid that passes us while we are torn, and exposed to all the greedy.
We had hoped for goodness when the regime “ceded” and accepted to unify the start of fasting with the rest of the Muslim countries, but it seems that the regime’s eagerness to divide between Muslims prevented it to complement their joy of uniting their breakfast and their Eid, so it insisted on delaying the Eid by one day, as per usual.
It has become clear for years that the insistence of Morocco on being different from the rest of the Muslim countries in fasting and breaking of fast, and delaying it by a day or two, has no scientific or astronomical justification as well as any Shari’ reason. For if the justification is astronomical as they claim, then do the two sides of the border point, Gog mules, between Morocco and Algeria have two different Matala’ (the time of rising of celestial bodies for the moon) to cause differences in fasting and break fasting between them? As for those who say that the unification of fasting requires the unification of the times of prayers, we say to them we have unified the beginning of fast this year with a far-end Muslim country (Indonesia), so did we need to unify with them the prayers times? We unify the beginning of fasting every year between Lagouira and Oujda, noting that the time difference in the times of prayers between the two cities could reach up to an hour, so do the people of the two distant cities unite their prayers times? What is the matter with you? How do you judge? As for the Shari’ justification, the Maliki school of thought which our rulers claim to adhere to, states that if the new moon is sighted, then fasting is bound to the rest of the country, no matter how near or far, and it is not taken into account the distance of Qasr (shortening the prayer on a journey), nor agreement of Matala’ or its lack. Hence fasting is obligatory upon all those who learn about the sighting of the moon, if the confirmation of the sighting is conveyed by the testimony of two qualified witnesses or an extensive group, i.e. widespread. This also applies to the breaking of the fast. So, how can the rulers justify the fast and break fast of the people of Al Hoceima and Oujda with the people of Lagouira, who are distant from them by more than two thousand kilometers, while not considering the sighting of the people of Algeria who are only tens of meters away from them? Which astronomical calculation or rational or legitimate logic justifies this? As for those who insist that they act according to Ikhtilaf Matala’ for the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: «صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته» “Fast at its sight, and break fast at its sight.”, i.e. in compliance with the legal rule, we say to them SubhanaAllah, hundreds of rulings are brazenly violated; adultery, alcohol, usury, the rule by other than what Allah سبحانه وتعالى has revealed, and taking the Kuffar as allies, etc…, all these Sharii’ violations did not stir you, and only achieving Ikhtilaf Matala’ (difference in sighting) is what you complied to!
O Muslims, O people of Morocco,
Muslims lands are one land and the Matala’ (sighting) which they claim to be different are only political borders that the colonizer has drawn by its sinful hands. Thus, these borders that separate the Muslim lands are artificial borders created by the Kafir colonizers to disperse and weaken them in order to facilitate the occupation of their land and plunder its natural resources, and to prevent their revival once again. So, these borders are invalid and worthless by the Sharia, and it is impermissible to build upon them the legitimate provisions. Instead, it is obligatory to work hard to remove them and re-unify Muslim countries under one flag and one ruler who is the Khaleefah of the Muslims, who will soon focus his eyes in the East and West of the world in the land which falls under his authority, and when the new moon is sighted in whatever country all Muslims will act upon that sighting, both for the beginning and the end of the month.
O Muslims, O people of Morocco,
The establishment of the state of Islam that brings together all Muslims in the world under its wing, sheltering them and protecting them and repelling the hands of the aggressors, this state is the goal that Hizb ut Tahrir vows itself since over sixty years. And the fruits of the Hizb’s work, all praise and thanks be to Allah, has flourished. Behold, the throats of the Muslims in the whole world chanting their love for Islam, for the Messenger of Islam and for the provisions of Islam and their longing to live under its shade. So, hasten O Muslims to join the caravan, and work with the sincere workers for its establishment, what would make you perceive, that perhaps, the caravan reaches its goal soon, and you miss this great reward.
