Allah (swt) informs us in the Quran, in Surah Aal-i Imran

(كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّهِ)

“You are the best nation ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma’ruf and forbid Al-Munkar and you believe in Allah.”

For over thirteen centuries, the Muslim World looked to fulfil this task. Under the Islamic Khilafah (Caliphate), the bay’ah (allegiance) was taken by the Sultan. The peoples’ disputes were settled by the judges based on the Shari’ah principles. The wealth was collected and distributed based on the Kharaj and Zakat, and the banner of Jihad was carried by the armies of Islam. Not only was security and sanctity provided for the Muslims, but also the institutions provided a beacon for those who wished to learn and experience what Islam had to offer.

Today the reality and trials of the Muslims are well known by everyone and require no explanation nor elaboration, nor is a lengthy discussion required with those amongst the remnants of the Western colonialists who seek to cast doubt over the Islamic Khilafah, its obligation, or Islam’s ability to provide leadership to the world once again.

Enough should be the words of Allah (swt) when He says:

(وَأَنِ احْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ اللّهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءهُمْ)

“We order you to judge between them according to what Allah has sent down. Do not follow their desires,” [TMQ Al Ma’idah 5:49].

Would it not be disingenuous to claim Allah (swt) had not provided any mechanism by which to bring the guidance for mankind to life? Or is it acceptable to have witnessed a century where the Secular Capitalist system has wreaked havoc across the earth and we remain mere spectators? Capitalism is a system whose legacy is extreme wealth for the few at the expense of conflict, poverty and hunger for the rest.

The only real discussion is how can the Islamic Khilafah System be brought back to life, as it is truly the only system that can bring humanity back from the path of self-destruction on which it is currently set.

Allah (swt) gives us many reminders that changing the order of the world is an easy task for Him. Indeed for those who care to observe, the current shift is already under way. The only thing for us to consider is what part we want to play in this revival. As bystanders what would be the answer to Allah (swt) when He tells us:

(فَلَنَسْأَلَنَّ الَّذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ) “So, We shall ask those to whom the messengers were sent,” [TMQ Al -Araf 7:6].

As followers of the last Messenger RasoolAllah (saw), our responsibilities to this message are many fold, whether to the mother who cries out after her children as they are driven out of their homes, or to a father battling to keep his son from the freedom and consumption that Capitalism feigns. Islam has come to solve the problems of the whole of humanity. So how then can we be content with Islam being presented as merely a set of ritual beliefs or practices to fill a spiritual void.

Surely, only with the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah System will we be able to live by Islam and present it to the world as a complete way of life. Only through the Khilafah can the Muslims truly enjoy the sanctity and security that is theirs by right and by the virtue of submitting to Allah (swt). It is only the Islamic way of life that can be presented as a true alternative and remedy to the emptiness that the secular world order has created.

It is incumbent that the Ummah as a whole demands what is its and works tirelessly to bring about the change that is desperately required. We have to understand that this is a vital issue, the responsibility of which lies with every Muslim.

The Prophet (saw) said: «وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ فِي عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً» “Whosoever dies without the bay’ah on his neck dies the death of jahilliyah.” (Muslim).

It is a duty upon every single Muslim that they make sure they do everything in their capacity to make the call for Khilafah resonate such that the thrones of the tyrants are shaken and overturned by those of the people of power and influence who fear Allah and yearn to fulfill the promise of Allah when He (swt) says:

(وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُم فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ)

“Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them,” [TMQ An-Nur 24:55].
