Again, a horrendous incident of child abuse shocking Indonesian people. The murder of Angeline, a pretty child aged 8 years old who was found buried in the backyard of her foster mother in Bali at June 10, reaping a lot of public controversy both in the media and social media related to who the real killer may be. This case has really slapped the policy makers of the country as it turns out child abuse continues to happen in Indonesia. They continue to examine and remain reviewing what exactly the root of the problem is.

Actually, the outbreak of violence against children is really an inherent symptom of secular Western society, which is imported to the Muslim lands and then infect us as a Muslim community. For instance, in the US over 5 million children are reported as victims of physical, sexual, verbal and emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment, and death. Then afterwards this plague was also spread to East Asian countries; South Korea has an increase rate of child abuse from 6700 cases in 2013 then rising to 36% in 2014 to 10,240 cases. Japan is even worse in this case, a total of 73,765 cases of violence against children in 2013.
Indeed, the secular capitalist ideology has disseminated this plague from the West to the East as secular, liberal and materialistic values has paralyzed and dehumanized the family units of society. The symptom of “having economic progress but suffering detriment civilization” in western developed countries also increasingly perceived by Muslim countries as a result of their puppet regimes who keeps parroting secular and freedom values of the West – which fueled by capitalistic economic system. Inevitably, rapid development is often accompanied by a social crisis, the collapse of the family institution, widespread criminality, as well as violence against women and children.
Muslim rulers like Indonesia, Malaysia, and other Muslim world must realize that the only healing potion for this plague is ISLAM. The golden history of Islam civilization – was remarkably provide security the welfare and honor of the children of Islam as the future generation. The Islamic legal system, social and its economic politics maintain and ensure the growth of the golden generation of Islam as a powerful, productive and devoted generation. Child killers will be punished with the qishas (reply to kill), or pay diyat (fine) as much as 100 camels currently worth approximately $150,000 US. Even a wounded tooth was charged a diyat of 5 camels or about $7500 US. Including harming a child’s genitals through promiscuity will be subject to 1/3 of 100 camels, in addition to the punishment of adultery (Abdurrahman Al Maliki, 1990, p 214-238). With this kind of punishment, a child perpetrator will think a thousand times before taking action. Islamic social system will also keep family units harmoniously and keep it away from dehumanization, so that the children are well preserved and protected in the home. The state will also guarantee free education for children through schools with curriculum-based Islamic Aqeedah that form their Islamic personality. Besides economic political Islam will also prevent economic inequality that delivers on economic exploitation on the mother as a breadwinner to abandoned children.
The implementation of an Islamic system in a comprehensive way will maintain a pious atmosphere in the society. The state is obliged to foster individual citizens so that their faith (taqwa) becomes one of the pillars for the implementation of Islamic Sharia. The pious Individuals will not commit violence against children, as well as a devoted society that will monitor the healthy environment for their children. The children across the world are in dire need of an alternative model of protection system to guard them from the fall-out of this divisive, inflammatory world order. The only system that can provide this alternative is the Khilafah based upon the method of the Prophethood which implements the laws and systems of Islam comprehensively upon the state. It is the urgent re-establishment of this state which is the only true solution as well as the shield for tens of millions children in the world, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
«اْلإِسْلاَمُ يَعْلُوْ وَلاَ يُعْلَى عليه»
“Islam is the highest and nothing is higher than it.” (Narrated by Daruqutni)
