Rejection of Tunisia’s Suppression and Humiliation of Teachers

We in the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Tunisia strongly condemn the arbitrary and degrading manner by which the security forces treated teachers to disperse their demonstrations in more than one city to demand rights that they were earlier promised… This arbitrary method is considered an act of aggression against the people as humans, and an assault on educators since they symbolize mentors and teachers, and is considered an aggression on the honor of the profession and its status to all. Especially that this aggression was accompanied by another aggression, which is the horrifying statements from the Minister of Education more than once, with all contempt and mockery, and he even threatened them with a state of emergency and the subsequent launch of the hands of the authority.

Some ministers of this government in the recent past used to consider such moves as struggle and suppressing them as unjust, and supported more than once the call for a general strike one after another. However, we see them today, as the new rulers, regard such moves sedition and abuse of the law and as a chaos!! .. What government is this which humiliates teachers such a humiliation more than once, and in return we find it pardons the thieves and looters, rather asks them to apologize?! .. However we disagree with the teachers on the methods of their protests and their timing; we will not accept treating them with batons, kicking and tear gas.
