We, in the Women’s Section of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Tunisia:

Make it clear that the report of the Committee of Individual Freedoms and Equality and its proposals, such as the abolition of dowry in marriage, the freedom to choose the family title, equality in inheritance, abolition of the time period of the widowhood (iddah), and other things that are considered revolutionary and combative proposals, is but a manufactured and deliberate war on the provisions of Allah…

Indicate that this Committee’s work is part of a series of Western dictations, such as lifting the reservations of the CEDAW agreement in 2011 and recognizing homosexuality and adultery under a law ratified in 2017, calling it “resistance to violence against women”.

We therefore: Affirm that this crime that they want to impose is categorically rejected by the people; it is contrary to their creed and contrary to Sharii’ constants that are known in religion as necessities, and any prejudice to it by denial or misinterpretation is a transgression that will not be accepted by the people of this Muslim country,

We will deal with the proposals of this committee which violates the provisions of Allah, and we motivate you all, to oppose these laws and work to replace them with laws that emanate from the Ummah’s creed, of a ruling system that would reform the status of women, the family and the entire Ummah, under the shade of the righteous Khilafah State (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophet, as promised by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Allah (swt) says:

أَفَحُكْمَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

 “Do they then seek after a judgment of (the days of) ignorance? But who, for a people whose faith is assured, can give better judgment than Allah.”

[Al-Ma’idah, 50]
