International Khilafah Conference 2007

Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia, as part of a global awareness campaign for Khilafah have successfully held the largest Khilafah Conference the world has ever seen since the destruction of the Khilafah on the 28 Rajab 1342 (hijri date).

A global awareness campaign during the month of Rajab brought together thousands around the globe calling for the return of the Khilafah. On Sunday 12th August 2007, more than 100,000 Muslims in Indonesia gathered at the International Khilafah Conference, this spectacular event brought together an array of key activists. Unfortunately three key international speakers, Dr Imran Waheed, Sheikh Ismail al-Wahwah and Sheikh Issam Ameerah from Al-Quds were prevented from entering Jakarta, Dr Imran Waheed was deported upon arrival. His speech was televised from outside the country.

On Saturday 4th August 2007, Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain held a Khilafah Conference, a host of speakers addressed a packed Alexandra Palace hall on the challenges the Muslim World faces and how only through the re-establishment of Islam in state and society will we as an ummah overcome these problems.

The International media who routinely downplay the sentiments from the 'Muslim street' for Islam could not avoid addressing these conferences. The BBC's Lucy Williamson reported the huge Indonesia audience and newspapers across the Arab world reported on the growing call for Khilafah.

Two conferences were held in Palestine, one in the West Bank was attended by 12,000 and was reported by the International Herald Tribune, the Ameer of Hizb ut-Tahrir Sheikh Ata’ abu Rishta also spoke at the conference via a pre-broadcast speech. Sheikh Issam Ameerah of Palestine in an interview to this site also spoke of the success of the conferences (pictures to follow).

So far conferences have been held in Indonesia, Britain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Netherlands, Malaysia and Pakistan.
