Imran Khan’s meeting on 10 February 2019 with the IMF chief in Dubai heralds grave new dangers to Pakistan at the hands of the colonialists. The IMF is such a great source of harm that in the US Army’s “Field Manual (FM) 3-05.130, Army Special Operations Forces Unconventional Warfare,” written in September 2008, the US military considers that colonialist financial institutions, such as the IMF, World Bank and OECD, are financial, unconventional, “weapons in times of conflict up to and including large-scale general war.” Indeed, it is a fact that the IMF is a colonialist tool that never allows a country that receives loans to stand on its feet to challenge the colonialist powers. This fact was acknowledged by Imran Khan well before he came to power.
In an interview published in the British newspaper, The Guardian, on 18 September 2011, Imran Khan warned, “A country that relies on aid? Death is better than that. It stops you from achieving your potential, just as colonialism did. Aid is humiliating. Every country I know that has had IMF or World Bank programmes has only impoverished the poor and enriched the rich.” Yet, Imran Khan enthusiastically tweeted on 10 February 2019, “In my meeting today with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde there was a convergence of our views on the need to carry out deep structural reforms to put the country on the path of sustainable development in which the most vulnerable segments of society are protected.” The deep structural reforms are far from a cause of celebration. They are based on the colonialist formula, the Washington Consensus, which is designed to maintain the dollar hegemony in international trade at the cost of the local country’s currency, industry and agriculture.
O Muslims of Pakistan! Imran Khan has conclusively proved that a change in faces alone will never bring change to Pakistan. As long as Pakistan is burdened by a man-made system with man-made laws, it will constantly suffer. Each previous ruler will look better than the current one, merely because Pakistan is continuously sinking deeper into the colonialist trap. We are already crushed by increased taxation, reduced subsidies, a weakened rupee and back breaking rises in prices. As long as Pakistan is a member of the IMF, matters will only get worse. It is upon us all now to support the advocates of the Khilafah in their demand that Pakistan leaves all colonialist institutions, whether the IMF or the UN, because these tools allow the kuffar to have dominance over our affairs and are a source of great harm. Allah (swt) said, وَلَن يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلًا “Allah (swt) does not permit the believers to grant the kuffar authority over them.” [Surah An-Nisa’a 4:141]. RasulAllah ﷺ said, «لاَ ضَرَرَ وَلاَ ضِرَارَ» “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” [Muwatta Ibn Malik, Ibn Majah]. And it is upon us all to join our nights and days for the only system which will enable Pakistan to achieve its true potential, the Khilafah (Caliphate) on the Method of the Prophethood.
