Golam Fahim, a 19-year-old teenager, has died in police custody just days after he and two others allegedly wounded a Hindu mathematics teacher during an attempt to hack him to death. Six suspected so-called “Islamist militants”, including Fahim, have been shot dead in police custody since the start of a crackdown in response to a wave of violence against atheist bloggers, liberal academics, gay-rights campaigners, foreign aid workers, and members of minority religious groups. Police said that Fahim was suspected of being a member of Hizb ut Tahrir. According to their narrative, Fahim who was in custody for questioning, revealed the location of a Hizb ut Tahrir hideout during interrogation and police took him with them to raid the location, where the shooting took place. Police falsely and absurdly claimed that Hizb ut Tahrir operatives opened fire in an attempt to snatch Fahim, forcing the police to retaliate and Fahim was caught in the crossfire. Local media said Fahim was handcuffed and had a bullet injury on the left side of the chest when he was brought to hospital after Saturday’s shoot-out. Rights activists questioned the incidents of deaths in police custody, saying the suspects were shot dead in “cold blood” in encounters staged by officers.

In recent time, the extra-judicial killing of Muslims in Bangladesh has gained an unprecedented momentum. Within a span of just 24 hours two persons were killed in crossfire. Shariful aka Sakib, allegedly involved in the killing of atheist writer Avijit Roy and seven others were killed after the killing of Golam Faizullah Fahim. 14 people have been killed this month alone in these so-called gunfights, without any proper investigation or trial. Interestingly, after every killing in the name of “crossfires” – the Bangladesh police presents a very specific and repetitive narrative, where a suspected handcuffed terrorist is taken to a so-called terrorist raid by the police and later on is found shot dead amid the crossfire. Any sensible person will clearly understand that these so-called raids are staged by the police simply to remove evidences which might be uncomfortable for the government. From the total scenario it is evident that the government has no real intention to find out the real perpetrators behind these brutal secret killings. Till today the law enforcement agencies could not arrest a single killer. Rather, they have failed to protect the life of a crucial suspect who was caught by the civilians. Also, questions were raised as to why none of the suspects had any bullet-proof jacket or helmet on them when they were taken on the so-called police raids or why such crucial sources were getting killed.
Moreover, it is well known that secret killing is a very common tactic used by the Western imperialists to create political instability and an environment of fear in the Muslim lands. Through their secret agencies, the US government has created absolute chaos and political instability in Pakistan, including many other Muslim lands. But Sheikh Hasina’s government is least bothered to expose the heinous conspiracies of her western masters to the Muslims of Bangladesh. Rather, she is busy making political gain out of this chaos by putting the blame on non-existent Islamic extremists. This is why, with the help of some lying media outlets, the Hasina regime has taken a feeble attempt to tarnish the image of the righteous Islamic party Hizb ut Tahrir by linking Faizullah Fahim with the party. In fact, the corrupt and subservient Hasina regime knows that her days are numbered and in spite of putting unlawful bans on Hizb-ut-tahrir in 2009 and constant arrest and torture of its righteous members, including shameless arrest of its honorable female members, it has failed to stop the call of Islamic revival in Bangladesh. This intellectually bankrupt regime also knows that it is incapable of challenging true Islamic thoughts which give life to the hearts of the Muslims of Bangladesh. Hence, it has resorted to a smear campaign against the party through slander and false propaganda. But, it is well established that Hizb ut Tahrir is an intellectual political Islamic party and to restore the eminent second Khilafah Rashidah (Caliphate) it follows only the method of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Despite facing brutal torture and persecution since its establishment, the party has never engaged in violence nor has it deviated from the path of intellectual political struggle.
Sheikh Hasina and her corrupt regime should know that their feeble tactics will never be successful in hindering the call of the second Khilafah Rashida in Bangladesh, nor it will be able to stop her downfall. This eminent state will be re-established soon by the Will of Allah which will create an environment of peace, will guarantee the security of life of every citizen including Muslims and non-Muslims of Bangladesh by destroying the heinous plot of the imperialists.
