When Sa’ad ibn Mu’adh died, Jibreel came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم and said: “Who was this good soul who died? The gates of the heavens were opened for him and the throne moved.”

This is narrated by Haakim and authenticated by al-Dhahabi; also Imam Ahmad reported it with an authentic chain of narration.
