Al-Junaynah Burns Hundreds Killed and Thousands Injured, while the Governor and the Government Take No Action!

The government of the Darfur region states that the number of casualties in Al-Junaynah, West Darfur state, has exceeded one thousand (Al-Hadath, 14/6/2023). The Sudanese Doctors Union warns that the situation in Al-Junaynah has become catastrophic, the worst ever. The head of the UNITAMS mission tweeted on the mission’s website, saying, “…in El Geneina (West Darfur)…there is an emerging pattern of large-scale targeted attacks against civilians based on their ethnic identities, allegedly committed by Arab militias and some armed men in Rapid Support Force (RSF)’s uniform. These reports are deeply worrying and, if verified, could amount to crimes against humanity.”

West Darfur Governor, Khamees Abakar, just hours before his assassination, stated in an interview with Al-Hadath Channel on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, that the city of Al-Junaynah had experienced complete lawlessness by the Rapid Support Forces and the armed militias supporting them. He denied characterizing the situation in Al-Junaynah as a tribal conflict between the Massalit and Arab tribes. He expressed his regret for the lack of intervention by the armed forces to protect the people, as they remained stationed at their base in the 15th Infantry Division. He mentioned that people were forced to arm themselves in order to protect themselves and their families.

This is the reality in the city of Al-Junaynah, the capital of West Darfur state, and it is a catastrophic reality in every sense of the word. It confirms the government’s negligence in fulfilling its duty towards its citizens by providing them with security and safety. In fact, the government is complicit in what is happening, as evidenced by the statement of the late governor to Al-Hadath Channel that the armed forces did not intervene to protect the people, leaving them at the mercy of the militias. Wala hawla wala quwata illa billah.

Any government that fails to provide security for its citizens is unworthy of remaining in power. The primary responsibility of any government in the world is to ensure the preservation of people’s lives, protect their dignity from violation, and safeguard their wealth from exploitation. In Islam, a ruler is a shield that protects the Ummah from any harm. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said:

«إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ»

“A Muslim ruler is shield by which a battle is fought.”

Since the downfall of the Khilafah State and the rise of oppressive regimes in Muslim lands, the blood of Muslims has become cheap, their dignity is violated, and their wealth is plundered by enemies. This is a tragic reality where the lives of Muslims are devalued, and their rights are neglected.

Our situation will not be rectified, and Muslims in Sudan or in any other Muslim countries will not experience safety, peace, stability, and tranquillity except through the establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood. This is a promise from Allah and glad tidings from His Messenger

«ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةٌ عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ»

“…and then there will be Khilafah upon the Prophetic method.”
