VIDEO: Former UN Special Rapporteur on Torture makes the case of Karimov facing trial for torture

The West continues its duplicity in dealing with the likes of Karimov(Uzbekistan) & Rakhmon(Tajikistan). With visits within last 2 months by Panetta, Clinton, British Defense Minister and even Germany having its first external military base in Uzbekistan.

Even by using there own conventions the Butcher of Tashkent & Andijan should have been trialed by now. But they continue turning a blind eye as it suits there interests.

Bashar Assad could have got away with what he was was doing but he failed to control the people of Syria after so many months. When this occurs then the West looks for alterntives and only then. Just like what happened with his father Hafez al-Assad.

Former UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Theo van Boven, says that Islam Karimov should be brought to justice for the ‘widespread and systematic’ torture in his country.

‘Torture’ means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession…”

UN Convention against Torture

According to the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court, torture is a crime against humanity if it is carried out as part of any widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population (Part 2, Article 7).
