In a press conference held on 09/24/2015, President of the Republic Erdogan said after returning from his visit to Russia, commenting on the ongoing operations in Syria, “It is possible for this (transitional) process to be completed without Assad, just as it is possible for this transitional process to happen with him…” The news circulated this statement of his along the lines of: “The changing of the Turkish lines in respect to Syria”. In the wake of this news the President Erdogan stated, “Turkey today is where it was yesterday” and this statement is correct because Turkey today is exactly as it was yesterday in respect to its policy towards Syria i.e. it stands alongside the American position.
The Turkish policy in Syria has proceeded from the beginning in coordination with the American policy. So Turkey undertook all of its actions including its operations, the Geneva 1 and Geneva 2 conferences, the permission for foreign ground troops to pass through, the opening of military bases to the alliance and American armed forces, the ‘strike and prepare’ policy and the setting up of the separation wall upon the border, yes indeed Turkey undertook all of these actions being led by America and it has not fallen short once in respect to serving its master. Indeed it didn’t even utter a single word in respect to the United States of America’s support for the Democratic Union Party in Syria which is a branch of the Kurdish Workers Party (which is terrorist according to their description) whilst (on the other hand) it even opened its borders for Peshmerga forces to enter Kobani. The world war that is taking place in Syria is an open war undertaken by the American, European, Russian and Iranian alliance alongside the criminal Syrian regime against the sincere Muslims. Turkey in addition to other states in the region have only been used as a filling and filler material. America and Russia have displayed an apparent opposition to one another in order to preserve the Syrian regime so that it remains standing on its feet whilst they are now talking openly about Assad being present in the transitional stage. America and Russia know well that if the Bathists were to be removed from Syria that it will not be possible for it to remain in their hands. They are therefore compelled to stick with Asad due to their inability to find a replacement. Turkey knows this well just as the United States of America and Russia know this. Just as Turkey has worked since the beginning it now continues to work to see this plan which has become divulged through, however it is softening the brunt by restricting it to the transitional stage.
Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who participated in the UN General Assembly in New York, in response to a question about America’s and Obama’s changing policy in Syria said, “What Obama said in the context of Syria is a denial of all of the analyses related to the Unites States of America’s inclination towards a scenario that relies upon the remaining of Assad”. If the matter was actually like that then we would ask the Prime Minister Davutoglu: Is not America the reason for Assad’s regime remaining up until now despite having crossed all red lines?
Is it not Obama who is saying that he is ready to work alongside Russia and Iran regardless of their support for the Syrian regime with money, weapons and fighters? Is it not Turkey who is implicitly supporting Assad’s regime by joining the crusader alliance that America is leading under the pretext of fighting against terrorism? Is it not you who permitted the Russian ships carrying weapons, ammunition and fighters to pass through into Syria?
