The Danish Crusade Campaign in Banning the Niqab Continues

The Danish government was able, with the help of the democratic socialists and other parties, to secure the majority of the political votes in support of the government’s plan of banning the Niqab, due to the government’s desire to follow oppressive policies in order to limit the rights of the Muslims in the country.

The first discussion of the law occurred on the 19th of April 2018, and these discussions witnessed a rather bizarre and awkward debate around the naming of this law and how to implement it.

After the law regarding the Imams and the legal restrictions against the private Islamic schools, the law of banning the Niqab comes as the latest legal procedure in a series of restrictions against the Muslims. With this, the law banning the Niqab is a part of the government’s hatred against Islam and the Muslims, aiming to askew the public opinion, bombarding it with wrong and false ideas, and drawing a scary picture about Islam and the Muslims. This is obvious in the magnitude of the attacks and accusations the elite politicians commit regularly against Islam and the Muslims.

Even though the law of banning the Niqab exposes the constitution and the liberal values quite obviously; that constitution and liberal values which demands from the Muslims to swear their allegiance to them, even so, the politicians are persisting on their cultural war. And as an announcement of their cultural failure, they decided to adopt a total police regime by forcing women to remove the clothes which they chose for themselves, and they didn’t consider that as enforcing upon the women something they don’t want.

As for the pretext of “fighting hatred” and “social surveillance” which they present in the law, it is a blatant lie, since the current law forbids enforcing people to wear clothes in a particular manner. In addition, the Niqab committee which they previous government formed in the year 2009, reached the conclusion that the women wearing the Niqab in Denmark are doing so willingly, and mostly without the approval of their parents. Therefore, there is not single evidence showing that there’s any women forced to wear the Niqab in Denmark. It is rather the Danish government utilizing social surveillance and enforcement to forbid the Muslim women from their right to commit to the clothing which they incline towards due to their religion.

The only reason behind this law of banning the Niqab is that the politicians regard the Niqab as an Islamic symbol, thus this law has formed an attack on all of the Islamic communities in this country. Also, the politicians, as we have seen with the law of the Imams, will mobilize directly after passing the law of banning the Niqab, they will mobilize towards a new ban, which could be banning prayers in educational institutions, or banning Islamic schools or the Hijab. We have already seen how the Danish People Party presented the suggestion of banning the Hijab for those working in the public sector and students in schools, before the ink was able to dry up when writing the plan of the law of banning the Niqab.

O Muslims:

The banning Danish Crusade Campaign which is targeting Islam and the Muslims states the general European path… where both European courts (in France and Belgium) were not satisfied to bless the banning of the Niqab in their courts, but they rather described the law as “necessary”!

The European court for the Human Rights announced in 2017 regarding the law of banning the Niqab in Belgium, that the banning against the Niqab is deemed as “necessary” in a democratic society. Above this, such laws encourage the European countries to further their attack on the Islamic identity via legislation, as long as the laws are written in a generic term and are called other than what it is intended, and this matter became well-known.

The naming of banning the Niqab as “forbidding to cover the face” and the law of the Imams as “law of the preachers”, does not change the truth behind these laws or their hidden intentions that they are laws addressed against the Muslims, even though these laws go against their constitutions and the human rights laws which they boast about. The legal twists and the changing of the names are not but except exposing the politicians’ lack of trust in their liberal values of freedom and their constitutions, and they are exposing their hypocrisy when they call upon the Muslims to be loyal to the constitutions and the values of freedom, the same constitution which they’re burning and the same values of freedom which they hit across the wall.

O Muslims:

Allah (swt) obligated upon us to be one united body supporting one another. The decision makers in the West rely on one ban to another to express their frustration and fear after Islam became a big part of the Western societies. They consider Islam to be a threat by itself, and they turn their agents against the Muslims. After their failure in their attempts of blending the Muslims in their societies and convincing them to let go of their Islamic identity throughout decades, we now see how the decision makers in the West have adopted the path of bans and enforcements constantly. This targeting is actually leading to the falling of the Western culture where the decision makers are constantly changing their values and principles, thus leading to the loss of trust in the foundation of the Western societies.

It is our duty as Muslims to refuse the weak and deluding Western principle of freedom, and we ought to hold on to our Islam. We have to unite our stance in refusing the law of banning the Niqab going against Islam. We must not be affected in any way with this holistic step targeting against the Muslim community.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir invite all Muslims, especially the Islamic organizations, Muslim representatives, and mosques, to hold on to every bit of Islam and declare the Islamic community’s refusal of this law and every law against Islam.

In addition, we concur that there is no possibility to meet with politicians who are waging a war against Islam as there can never be a common ground or a common starting point with them. Rather, protesting, refusing, and going against this policy is our duty.

Hold on tight to your rightful values and the law of your honorable Sharia, O Muslims, and call people into the path of your Lord with wisdom.

“Allah will keep firm those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world (i.e. they will keep on worshipping Allah Alone and none else), and in the Hereafter. And Allah will cause to go astray those who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), and Allah does what He wills.”
