People’s Daily reported on 13th December that China is quickly becoming a country of bachelors and spinsters as its unmarried population touched a whopping 200 million. According to research conducted by Tencent in 2016, 36.8 per cent of single Chinese women believe marriage is not necessary to live happy lives.
Among the 200 million unmarried men and women in China, over 58 million are living on their own. The unmarried population in China skyrocketed from six per cent in 1990 to 14.6 per cent of the population in 2013. Demographers believe that the independence of modern Chinese women is one of the main causes of the growing unmarried population.
Comment:
Before an empire collapses, it first erodes from within. The collapse may appear sudden, but the processes of internal rot hollowed out the resilience and vitality of the empire before its final implosion. Similarly, with China. As discoursed for long time, the high rate of unmarried women will be followed by the decrease of birth-rate, then finally leads to dire depopulation. It happens in every advanced capitalist country. China – the most populated country in the world – will certainly also depopulate following its senior in the West, as well as in the East, Japan and South Korea.
When women prioritize material success rather than family building, do not believe in marriage commitment, and even consider children as an economic burden, then this is truly an initial symptom of dying civilization. Capitalism’s “Womenomics” policy really coercing women into the workplace, creating mass exploitation of female workers; and that has caused many women to view being employed as giving them a higher status than being a mother, resulting in them losing their passion to become a wife and have many children.
So the consequences on this civilization continue to aging awaits its death; no longer have control for social damages as a heavy price of economic progress they sought. While at the same time Muslims are now rejuvenating, its uprising is getting louder throughout the world; their awareness to restore the honorable role of women is growing stronger. As in Islamic view, women are the center of civilization, those who would preserve the family and Islamic identity of the Muslim community. Muslim women should regain their respectable position as the nurturer of future generations.
China definitely needs to learn from Islam before its falling.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّى يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوءًا فَلا مَرَدَّ لَهُ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ مِنْ وَالٍ
“Verily! Allah will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah). But when Allah wills a people’s punishment, there can be no turning back of it, and they will find besides Him no protector.”
(Ar-Ra’d: 11)
