“Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh, a Qawmi madrasa board, held a ‘Shukrana Mahfil’ (thanks giving mass gathering) on 04/11/18 in the capital Dhaka where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended as the chief guest. The body arranged the mass gathering to praise the government for accrediting the Dawra-e-Hadith (Taqmil) of Qawmi Madrasas with the status of Master’s degree. The Chairman of Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh, Allama Ahmad Shafi chaired the mahfil.” (The Daily Observer, November 3, 2018)

Comment:

The so-called ‘thanks giving mass gathering’ will be sponsored by Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya, which is allied with Hefazat-e-Islami, a movement for protecting and restoring Islamic practices in the social and state level, under the leadership of Allma Ahmad Shafi. It is ironic that the Qawmi madrasa leaders went to express their gratitude to the secular Awami government, which massacred a large number of sincere activists of Hefazat-e-Islami during May 5-6, 2013 when they were protesting against this government for promoting and fostering the anti-Islamic elements. These leaders are eulogizing this secular government by betraying the blood of the martyrs and the aspiration of millions of sincere members of the Ummah.

It is obvious that they will be validating the Kufr secular ruling system by expressing the gratitude to the government in exchange of a trivial worldly gain. Secondly, the gathering is held at a time when everyone is waiting for the parliament election to be scheduled in the next month (December). Such a thanks giving ceremony will help the religion‑dealer secular government to clear the guilt of their past crimes of severe oppressions that they committed against the Ummah during its tenor. Finally, the most heinous thing these Islamic “sheiks” is that they have relinquished the supremacy of Islamic knowledge by equating it with a secular (Masters) degree.

Leaders of these Islamic platforms should know that the Deen of Allah (swt) will be victorious irrespective of how much praise they offer to the secular system. They should remember what Rasoolullah ﷺ said: «مَنْ سَكَنَ الْبَادِيَةَ جَفَا وَمَنْ اتَّبَعَ الصَّيْدَ غَفَلَ وَمَنْ أَتَى أَبْوَابَ السُّلْطَانِ افْتَتَنَ» “Whoever comes to the gate of the Sultan will face fitna (by being corrupted) and never does a Slave (of Allah) increase in closeness to the ruler except that he increases in distance from Allah.” (Ahmed/ Tirmidhi).
