Police in Tanzania banned Hizb ut Tahrir Conference of Welcoming Ramadhan

Police arrogantly banned Hizb ut Tahrir conference of welcoming Ramadhan that was due to take place on Saturday 20 May 2017 at Mayfair Hotel, Dar es Salaam. The Police issued a letter of intimidation to the hotel dated 19 May 2017 in which a few hours remained to the start of the symposium. The pretext behind the banning was that the conference was allegedly meant to be a secret meeting associating with indicators of ill intention to the community.

We Hizb ut Tahrir Tanzania question, would a secret meeting be conducted in hotel venue that occupies more than 450 invitees? Or would the secret meeting have publicly invited various prominent personalities, including clerics, imams, scholars, politicians, journalists, lawyers, activists, etc.? Further, would the secret meeting be openly advertised on websites and other social media? If that is the case, why was a letter of banning the conference issued a day before the conference and had informed us a few hours prior to the event?

This issue also exposes the injustices and oppression of the democratic system, as demonstrated by its governments all over the world, where they claim to uphold so-called freedoms of worship and expression while in reality are only empty slogans.

With great humility, we express regret to all invitees for any difficulties they might have been suffered from the banning of this important event meant to touch upon sensitive issues including the failure of capitalist system globally. Yet, we humbly remind them that this scenario is a vivid manifestation of incapability, unsuitability and ineffectiveness of capitalism and its political system of democracy that deprive mankind everything including an opportunity to conduct discussions on sensitive matters. It is high time for any enlightened thinker to research an alternative ideology which definitely is Islam and its Khilafah ruling system.
