Obituary of a Daw’ah Carrier in The Netherlands: Mehmed Akkar

With hearts that believe in Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى qada and His سبحانه وتعالى qadr, today we received news of our brother’s death: Mehmed Akkar

He carried the call to Islam with seriousness and diligence in the rows of Hizb ut Tahrir The Netherlands for many years until he passed away. We in the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir The Netherlands extends our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones on behalf of all the shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir The Netherlands furthermore we ask Allah the Almighty to bestow His mercy on him. Certainly the eye cries and the heart grieves, but we only say that which pleases our Lord:

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

“We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return”

(Al-Baqarah: 156)

Despite the health issues suffered by Brother Mehmed for years, he worked actively for the call to Islam. Brother Mehmed, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on him, was truly a brother and friend, he was an excellent example, he was friendly and kind and loved by everyone both old and young. His smile never left his face despite the long suffering from illness, and he remained patient, steady, anticipating and trusting in Allah سبحانه وتعالى, even in his last days after he underwent high risk surgery.

We ask Allah the Almighty the All-powerful to have mercy on our Brother Mehmed, to accept him, forgive him, pardon him, to let him live in His سبحانه وتعالى spacious gardens and to let him be one of those whom Allah rewards without any account, making truth the speech of Almighty:

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.”

(Al-Zumar: 10)
