Obituary of a Daw’ah Carrier in Lebanon: Shaykh Wahid Al-Mohtadi

[To the righteous it will be said] “O reassured soul, Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], And enter among My [righteous] servants. And enter My Paradise.”

Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia mourns the death of a great da’ee and a pious servant of Allah (azza wa jal), Shaykh Wahid Al-Mohtadi, who passed away today in Tripoli, Lebanon, in the last 10 days of Ramadan, at the age of 95.

Shaykh Waheed was among the early members of Hizb ut-Tahrir who carried the da’wah courageously and relentlessly. He was also a Shariah teacher at whose hands graduated hundreds of students in Shariah and fiqh.

He was imprisoned a dozen times for working for the Khilafah and opposing the treacherous regimes of the Muslim world. In particular, he was vociferous in his opposition to the regimes of both Hafez and Bashar Assad, and for decades spoke out against the Ba’athist influence that gripped and wreaked havoc in the Muslim world.

We pass our condolences to his family, children, grandchildren, and to all present da’wah carriers for the call of Khilafah who will no doubt be saddened by the news of the passing of an esteemed colleague. However, we express our gratitude to Allah that he gave men like Shaykh Waheed to this ummah and to this da’wah, for it was through their efforts and others like him that today the Muslim ummah so eagerly once again anticipates the return of the Khilafah.

We ask Allah to have mercy on Shaykh Waheed, and to forgive his sins, and to grant him al-firdaus al-a’la.

Inna Lillah Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’oon.
