New Attempts to Destroy the Islamic Identity in the West

This week the Danish Social Democrats proposed to stop the public financial support for Muslim private schools. Other parties from both left and right are supportive even though the proposal might be in conflict with both the Danish constitution and the European human rights convention.

Comment:

The result of a complete stop of public financial support for Muslim private schools would probably result in the closure of most, if not all the schools in Denmark, which is the purpose of the proposal. In Norway, Muslim private schools are not being approved already, and in Sweden they are trying to see if they can do the same.

It is an attempt to destroy the Islamic identity of future generations of Muslims growing up in the west. The spokesman on immigrants and integration from the Social Democrats, Dan Jørgensen, says: “When children go to school, it has to be something that strengthens integration, not the opposite. The school is a place where you learn to read, write and calculate, but it is also a place where you get certain values, and prepare for being an active citizen in Denmark and a part of the Danish community.” (CPHPost) To elaborate, Dan Jørgensen referred to Muslim Schools sending students to Mekkah, and staff advising girls to not have boyfriends.

The attacks on Islam and Muslims in the west are not a matter isolated to certain political parties leaning to the right, but are the result of an ideological struggle between Iman and Kufr fought by all parties from left to right. The idea of the less of two evils should be long gone buried in the minds of Muslims, but some defeated minds cling on to it. Maybe proposals like this could be the last nail in the coffin.

Some Muslims in the west live in the self-illusion that as long as we can have our mosques, schools and graveyards, we can live as Muslims and practice our Deen and raise string Islamic personalities. Proposals like this and many others prove that we will never be able to protect the Islamic identity of future generations while being dependent on the help of the people and system that see us as an intellectual enemy.

Though being independent as a Muslim community would help us and prevent the governments to pressure us to compromise Islam, but it is not enough. Despite all the self-illusion we might have and despite we might close our eyes, the fact is that we will not be able to follow Islam in all its aspects and protect the identity of ourselves, our children and the future generations without a state that is built upon, and implements Islam independent from all foreign and un-Islamic influence.

The enemies of Islam are patient. They make long term plans and work to destroy the coming generations until Islam, in 20, 30 or 50 years is reduced to nothing but names.

We, as Muslims, both in the east and the west must wake up and work for real change. It is our responsibility.
