On the 5th of October 2022, the BBC reported that Somalia is facing a famine resulting from the worst drought in 40 years. The story of one Muslim sister is revealed by reporters, that of Fatima Omar who buried one son from starvation and she had already buried her 3-year-old daughter who died whilst she walked for 10 days to find help. She tells reporters that she had no strength to bury her baby and had to leave her body by the road side knowing that Hyenas were closing in. She states; “I cannot grieve, I need to find work and food to keep the other alive”.

Comment:
The camps that serve as refuge for the destitute Ummah of Somalia have been surveyed and the results show that two thirds of the women and children are malnourished.

Women are left to wander the dry barren lands for days often going without food to try to get to a place that can relive their suffering. The old and young alike are no spared this torture and there are millions in the Horn of Africa who are struggling with no suitable aid coming through form the wealthy Muslim nations that have billions of dollars to help.

Doctors in the regions simply go from bed to bed waiting for people reduced to skin and bones to die. There are no supplies to cure their conditions and their skills are rendered useless.

To add to the catastrophe, an outbreak of measles is also plaguing Somalia and women and children have to endure this trial as well.

One doctor tells of struggling to even connect IV lines into skin that is so badly damaged by the revenges of prolonged hunger. The horror of what is the normal day to day existence in our lands is unbearable. How can it be that out noble sisters sit in dry dirt, alone, building shelters from the sun from rubbish they find and must watch the children they carried for 9 months, die, one by one!

Where are these criminal leaders of our lands and why are they left to squander our trillions of dollars in buying weapons to help the economies of western nations?

How is it that tons of food can be dumped in waste sites to keep prices high for global businesses and our little babies are left with the pains of an empty stomach.

God may have written for rain to pass a land or not, but it was not written for the Ummah to have haram actors preventing the Quran and Sunnah from living in the forms of the Khilafah. What we have done to bring back the correct Sharia rules will be written in our books of conduct on the day of judgement. We cannot abandon our children to die before they have even had a chance to live.

The abundance of this Ummah is well known, but the distribution of the rights of people to food, clothing and shelter is left to the greedy hands of the traitors running our countries.

One Somali minister said; “If we don’t receive the aid we need, hundreds of thousands of people will die. The things we’re doing now we needed to do three months ago. In reality we are behind. Unless something happens [fast] I think something catastrophic will happen in this area.”

He would do better to call for the Khilafah as all of his words are weak with not comprehensive system in place to remove the nationalism divide and the colonial enemies controlling our resources. Our armies alone could carry food across the entire Horn of Africa if they were not wasting time sitting idle or killing other Muslims to serve foreign leaders.

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said,

«الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرَكَاءُ فِي ثَلَاثٍ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْكَلَإِ وَالنَّارِ، وَثَمَنُهُ حَرَامٌ»

“The Muslims are partners in (co-owners of) three things: water, pasture, and fire – and their price is unlawful”.

We pray for our brother and sisters in Africa that they will soon see the rights of Islam in the Amir-ul-Muslimeen to ensure that these verses and text of Islam are living in the lives of the Ummah.
