Kenyatta -Trump Meeting Will Not Save Kenya since the US Policy is Anchored on Destructive Efforts to Exploit Kenya and Africa at large

On Monday 27 August 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta will hold talks with his US counterpart Donald Trump in Washington. In a statement released by the US Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, President Trump invited President Kenyatta for a meeting in the White House to discuss growing trade between the two countries and finding a lasting solution into insecurity in neighbouring Somalia and South Sudan.

Regarding the visit, we, in Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya, state the following:

The discussion between Kenyatta and his US counterpart President Donald Trump on growing trade and security is nothing other than a mounting pressure on Uhuru administration in implementing the vicious imperial policies that will continue to harm Kenya. It is through trade deals with Western major powers like America that has left Kenya and Africa at large devastated with crippling rates of poverty, hunger, and diseases. Erroneous trade policies advocated by the US such as free market has led to the economic disasters that are witnessed in the country today, which its public debt standing now at 5 Trillion (KSH). Notably, Trump’s Africa policy is just a continuation of imperialist efforts to dominate and exploit the country and the entire continent of Africa. Therefore, we see this visit will not save Kenya since US has been on the wrong side of history against the interests of the African businesspersons.

As for searching for alleged long lasting solution to insecurity, we reiterate America has no means to counter insecurity and terrorism since she is the highest guarantor of terrorism globally. Like his predecessors, Trump administration is increasing imperialist military interventions in Africa as well as other parts of the world. It is crystal-clear that over decades there has been no positive initiatives related to the peace and security of the continent and the world under any US administration i.e. from the past regimes to the present one. Furthermore, on the pretext of terrorism America has taken advantage of most nations’ militaries in Africa and put them under their grip; and established military bases in its strategies in replacing UK and France so that it can have a bigger share of the African loot.

Since Kenyatta’s visit to US comes barely four months after his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari, we see this as confirmation of an all-out strategy to entice former British colonies considering that both Kenyatta and Buhari are staunch British sub-servants. Both Kenya and Nigeria play an important role as active partners with the US in fighting its proxy-wars in the name of security and counter-terrorism initiatives. With Nigeria fighting ‘Boko Haram’ in its restive north and Sahel region while Kenya is fighting ‘Al Shabab’ intellectual locally and militarily across the border in Somalia under the coordination by US security apparatus. We caution Kenya and other countries of the peril of proxy wars, which include tearing countries apart.

In Conclusion: We in Hizb ut Tahrir / Kenya view this visit as an avenue by US to wrestle former British colonies, exploit their resources, and plunge the countries in further turmoil and debts! Furthermore, the blood of innocent citizens especially that of the Muslims will continue to be shed on the pretext of fighting extremism and terrorism as envisage by the invalid and hateful secular capitalist ideology and its stinking systems emanating from the US security policies as it does in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, the Blessed Land – Palestine, etc.
