Confidence in sub-prime mortage applicants, confidence in the performance of an economy or just plain confidence in invest itself-the economy relies on investor confidence. Interestingly, the price of Gold has risen sharply in recent times. When the economy is going well, Gold is bought as a collateral incase the markets crash. When the economy is going down, Gold is bought as investors wish to protect their purchasing power as paper currency loses its value. Very good article. - J Hussain
