The Danish newspaper behind the publication of the infamous cartoon depicting Muhammad (saw) as a terrorist has decided to reprint the inflammatory drawing. It justified its decision by claiming it as a protest against an alleged murder plot of the cartoonist behind the offensive ‘cartoon’ and in order to ‘uphold freedom of expression’. This hostile action was repeated by multiple newspapers across Denmark, showing solidarity with their fellow journalists.

The Netherlands, traditionally one of the most liberal countries in Europe, is now at the centre of a malicious campaign to defame Islam and the teachings of the noble Book of Allah (swt). The Netherlands and other western countries claim to uphold values of tolerance, equality and justice. Yet when it comes to Muslims these values suddenly disappear. Torture, kidnapping and detention without trial are now acceptable if applied to Muslims. Muslims defending their lands from occupation are labelled ‘unlawful combatants' where the Geneva Convention and other international norms are suspended. As Tony Blair, a former British Prime Minister once said: "the rules of the game are changing."

Witnessing the events of the past few days following the charge, imprisonment and subsequent full pardon of a British teacher, Gillian Gibbons, for insulting Islam one can easily be forgiven for thinking that the British Empire never ended and still rules the darkest parts of Africa.

The Turkish government has once again demonstrated its true allegiance to western powers, whilst incurring the wrath of Muslims everywhere, with its decision to allow the Israeli President, Shimon Peres, to address the Turkish parliament as part of a preamble to American inspired "peace negotiations" in the Middle East. This is the first time an Israeli leader has addressed a parliament in the Muslim world and serves to highlight the warm and friendly relationship that the secular ruling elites of the Muslim world have with the Zionist occupiers and oppressors.

There is a lesson to be learnt by Muslims and their quest to re-establish the Khilafah State in the reappearance of Russia on the political map of the world. Russia at the beginning of the 1990’s was a defeated nation. The Soviet Union, which made Russia a superpower, collapsed and left behind it a nation, which for the next decade was ruined, by corruption and the unleashing of Capitalist forces. It lost vast amounts of territory, its economy was in ruins and its military was severely weakened. Much of Russia’s natural wealth, including oil and gas, were sold off to private and foreign companies for a pitiful amount of money. Yet today, under Vladimir Putin, Russia is now pursuing an aggressive nationalism and foreign policy and is once again beginning to fulfil its interests. This new foreign policy has brought Russia in to political conflict with the West, and has brought with it the possibility of a new cold war.

The July elections in Turkey have clearly demonstrated once again, Turkey’s sham political system which many western politicians and commentators continually promote as the ideal model for the Muslim world. The crisis in Turkey concerning the presidency and the role of Islam in politics represents the trend in the Muslim world as a whole. Some feel that the vociferous opposition expressed in the streets of Ankara, and in the military headquarters last May, seems to indicate that Mustafa Kemal’s secular legacy is safe for the time being. However, the real story is of a country in transition, slowly being transformed as part of a wider dynamic across the Muslim world.

The following is a translation from Arabic by Sheikh Ata Abu Rashta dated the 8th June. It explains the background to the current situation in the run up to Presidential elections on 22nd July, the allegiance of the respective political parties and armed forces and the role played by both the US and UK in Turkish politics :
To have a clear picture it is necessary to delve into the history of the birth of secular Turkey. Ever since the traitor Mustafa Kemal executed the British designs and thereby destroyed the Khilafah after the First World War, he worked against Islam. His views, emotions and secular way of thinking showed his hatred of Islam and Muslims-even more than the secularists. His agenda and that of his followers were to reduce Turkey to becoming a puppet state of Britain in the region.
