The following is a press release from the new women's media representative of HT in Bangladesh.

Press Release

Women section of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh organized a day long exhibition today at the national press club entitled ‘Oppression of Women – The Way Forward.’ The exhibition started with an opening speech by Fahmida Farhana Khanom, the Media Representative of the Women section of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh. In her speech she said the purpose of the exhibition was to show that oppression of women is a worldwide problem. It is not a phenomenon which exists in the Muslim world only nor is Islam the cause of women’s oppression. Rather the capitalist system which dominates the world today is the real cause of women’s oppression, both in the East as well as the West. The capitalist system with its slogan of women’s rights, equality and empowerment has made women as mere sex symbols to be viewed, enjoyed and profited from. As a result of this the capitalist fashion industry, diet industry, advertisement industry and not to mention the pornography industry make use of women to accumulate profits in the amount of billions of dollars. This is the ugliest form of women’s oppression.
Fahmida Khanom also said women’s oppression cannot be solved under the capitalist system no matter how many ‘women development policy’ are announced. These policies are nothing but slogans whose real aim is to eradicate the Qur’an from the people’s lives and turn women into sex symbols as in the capitalist West. As for the talk of equal property rights, it is nothing but propaganda by the capitalist government which has not even managed to provide food, clothing and shelter for most of the people including women. It is only for the benefit of the few secular capitalist women of the high class who are smitten by the Western culture, not for benefit of the common women.

The true solution to women’s oppression is the Islamic system which has secured political, economic, legal and marital rights for women 1400 years ago. Islam dignifies women and elevates the status of women as a mother, wife and daughter and the status of all women. The Prophet (SAW) said, “The world and all the things in it are precious but the most precious thing in the world is a righteous woman.” Fahmida Khanom ended her speech urging everyone to work for the re-establishment of the Khilafah which will ensure that the honour of women is protected and secure the rights granted to her by Islam.

After the speech, the exhibition was visited by women from all walks of life throughout the day. There was an open discussion from 3.00pm-5.00pm. Women section of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh issued a book on the occasion of the exhibition entitled ‘Oppression of Women: The Islamic Solution.’

Womens rights : Islamic Viewpoint : Adnan
In a true Islamic society women are given even higher status, Who said they cannot drive a car? own a business ? They have all the rights, but they are protected by the Law of the Quran ,So as muslims they are protected. They don't have worry about some one trying to hurt them like in most modern Capitalist societies, where its a pain and shame to see women being sometimes used as objects of affection. And yes women are our mothers ,our wives our sisters. So they should be well honored and respected. And importantly, I think thats what most women want. To be loved and to share it with the ones who really love them.

May allah bless us all.

Assala -mu-Alaikum.

The fact of polarization in Banladesh : S. Mustafizur Rahman (Hemel), Dhaka
From our society in Bangladesh, it's very clear to us that the more our women being unislamic, the more their problems increasing to live a sound and honorable life. Realizing this fact and understanding the truthfulness and beauty of Islam, high educated women even from a harsh secular family, are embracing Islam strongly and boldly just like as Sumaiya (Ra), mother of Hazrat Ammar (Ra) and the first shaheed of Islam! Thus the number of educated muslim women is increasing in the society who follow Islam totally by understanding it intellectually and politically. This fact create a great headache to the multinationals, whose business are related to the physical beauty of women and cosmetics. So they are always launching their campaigns against Islam and using various tools and means. They are propagating their fake and shallow thoughts of 'so called' liberating women! The women who are not being able to understand their conspiracy, are becoming more and more western or modern(!) day by day! Thus their sufferings and harassments are increasing in society. Therefore, the society is clearly polarizing! Again, our HT sisters are challenging the secularists and the 'so called' feminists(!) to defend their fake secularism with the other corrupted thoughts! And the secularists could not dare to confront this open challenge! Subhanallah! Their sick knowledge even does not allow them to defend their fake thoughts. So where is their western lords? They are nothing but losers! This again proofs that Only Islam can give a women the strength to stand firmly towards truth and solve their problems practically, whereas secularism is defeated and falsehood!
Jazak-Allah khair!

Interesting opinion on what most non Islamic women and many Islamic women disagree with.

Then how do you expain the mass conversion of many Non-muslim women to Islam?

The question that I would like to see addressed is what if a woman doesn’t want to be a wife or mother or if she does, not one held to Islamic culture.

May be your own gender stops you from appreciating that all women have the instinct to want children. There is much research showing that women who delay children at the expense of a caree are miserable. In western standards – motherhood aint rated very highly as it’s not ideal for the GDP and the econmy – it doesn’t recognise the need of the woman. Islam on the other hand – a system reveled by our creator – who knows us best – has put motherhood at high stauts- we muslim women don’t fell guilty for having children and not contributing to the economy; hence Islam encourages that which is inline with our instincts.

What if she wants to have a job and a career, drive a car, dress as she wishes, travel as she wishes or do any of the other things that Islam feels that she needs a man’s approval to do?

The muslim woman only needs the approval of her creator. Her creator has allowed her to work, have career, be a judge all based upon her conviction in Islam infact all her relationships including with husband society, are defined by Allah our Creator. A muslim woman will do what her Creator ask her to do because she has a brain and decided to live by Islam, I always find it a bit patronising when western men lambalst Islam for being oppressive and dictatorial to women when they themselves don’t respect a mulim womans decision to live by something she herself has chosen to live by based upon rational conviction in the Islamic way of life!!!

As for the economic status of women in a capitalist society, the record is clear in that women are far better off economically in most Western societies than she is in virtually any Islamic one.
Really? Are you unaware of the pay gap that still exist? are you unaware of the level of sexual harassment of women in western capitalist societies face in the work place? Also you cant really say that Muslim women are worse off in an Islamic society – as such a society does not exist today. Muslim women still suffer under dictatorial regimes, who the west incidentally love to wine and dine with while conducting business. Also if you think that Capitalism is the bastion of women’s rights then – 6 years of the Afghanistan occupation why does the women there still no financially better off? In fact a UN officer said ‘Before the occupation Afghan women were in danger of being flogged -now they are in danger of being raped’. What has the liberal capitalist brought the women there? Don’t bother doing a google search for that question – as I’ll tell you now: the West where women are nothing but cheap sex commodities, who don’t get paid the same rate as men, who have to endure high levels of domestic abuse, where 23% of women feel so inconfident about their appearance that they are prisoners in their own home – Can deliver nout to women abroad.

The problem is Bangladesh isn’t that the culture isn’t sufficiently Islamic for women to prosper, but that it is too Islamic.

Masha Allah, it is truly heartwarming to see sisters in a country such as Bangladesh carry the haqq to its people. I am also a Bangladeshi (although living abroad) and it is very encouraging to see sisters organising such public events to call people to Islam. May Allah give us all success in both worlds and bring His victory soon, as He never breaks His promise. Ameen.

okay john , just like every superficial readers, do not compare the western society to islamic one , she is urging the return of the islamic state for the women to do far much better than in any states. so , you are unintentionally supporting her point of view , which simply, let's live under the islamic state " khilafah " then we will show you how women will be far better than in Europe or US. i think you need to learn how to read between the line , muslim writers tend to drive away from being Superficial , besides, your assumption that what if women does not want to be a mother , wife is simply impossible , because it is the role that god has created her for. perpetuating man kind is an instinct and abviouslly without a women it can not be done. could it ? before you jump, no one is telling you to look at how muslim should live ,
