Islam is the Answer to Solve Women’s Problems, Not Gender Equality

On the 7th of September 2015, the meeting of Women Parliamentarians for ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (WAIPA) has been held at Dewan Sarawak Hotel Shangri-La, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The acknowledgment of gender equality in the agenda of the post development 2015 are among the three resolutions achieved. The two remaining resolutions are encouraging the culture of respecting women and girls rights towards inclusiveness and also increasing the legal framework regarding violence towards women.

The President of WAIPA, Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie stated that these three resolutions will be brought to the meeting of the executive community of The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). She stated that many are confused and do not quite understand the meaning of gender equality. This meeting has been attended by 28 delegations comprising nine ASEAN members.

Comment:

ASEAN women are still following the Western ideology and are using the secularism idea as a yardstick in solving women problems. The outcomes of this resolution clearly shows that the women leaders in ASEAN including Malaysia and Indonesia are still placing high hopes towards the concept of gender equality. Where in fact this concept is not global and is often used to oppose the Islamic Shariah.

The obedience of the women leaders from the Muslim countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia towards gender equality proves that they are still influenced with the thoughts brought by the secularism and liberal leaders. They do not realize that the gender equality originated from the West has never solved the problems of women efficiently.

Malaysia has ratified the Human Rights Convention that is the Elimination of all forms of discrimination towards women (CEDAW) since 1995 and Indonesia has ratified it more than three decades ago. However, the statistics of violence towards women are always increasing. In fact, criminal cases such as rape, murder and abuse towards women has increased lately.

As the Muslim Ummah, we must never forget or abandon Islam. During the golden era of Islam in the archipelago, there was hardly news of exploitation and enslavement towards women, except when the western colonialization started to enter this country and caused riots among the Muslim Ummah. The Islamic ruling era has never had history of oppression towards women such as what has happened in the west because Islam views that women also possess high positions, intellectual and humanitarian attributes that are similar to men. Islam is complete with a set of a socializing system that is comprehensive, not only for women but also to the development of the society as a whole.

All this while the Muslim leaders who are stunned by secularism are as if they are blinded and reluctant to listen about the Shariah laws. Please! Try to open your hearts and mind to accept and learn Islam sincerely and distance yourselves from the west and their evil tricks! Remember Allah’s promise:

اتَّبِعْ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ لا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ

“Follow, (O Muhammad), what has been revealed to you from your Lord-there is no deity except Him-and turn away from those who associate others with Allah.”

(Al-An’am:106)

O Muslim rulers! Open your hearts and minds upon this sincere effort of the Muslimah Hizbut Tahrir who are currently fighting to oppose the rotten and worn ideas of the West regarding gender equality. Join us to spread the light of Islam in order to shield this world with the Islamic Shariah through the establishment of the Khilafah Islamiyyah which is a promise from Allah and His Prophet saw. Please permanently discard the Kuffar idea that is poison to the Muslim Ummah then replace it with Islam.
