Radio Free Asia on 13/01/2014 revealed further details of the brutal case in December involving a Uyghur woman from the Muslim-majority Xinjiang region who six months into her pregnancy was forced by the Chinese authorities to have an abortion. According to the media agency, the woman was sick when she was forced to undergo the procedure, having suffered from seizures. It was a 28 hour horrific ordeal that took place after local officials led her away from her home while she was unconscious from fainting. She received an injection to induce miscarriage while being tied down to the bed and was left like that in agonizing pain for more than a day until staff confirmed that her baby was dead. She is one of four Uyghur women in the Xinjiang Province who were forced last month by the brutal Chinese regime to undergo forced late-term abortions. One of the women was nine months pregnant when she was injected with the abortion-inducing drug. Her baby boy was alive when she delivered him but died later due to the drug.
The savagery of the anti-Islam Chinese government against the Muslims of Xinjiang continues unabated. Last month we also witnessed details of the repressive campaign of the Chinese authorities against the Islamic dress worn by Muslim Uyghur women. The predatory Chinese regime seems desperate to inhibit the growth of Islam in East Turkestan, using the most vicious styles against Uyghur women – all of which exposes the true barbaric face of the state regardless of its attempt to present a modern and more civilized image to the world with its economic achievement. Due to the regime’s fear of Islam’s increasing influence on Chinese society, the Muslim Uyghurs not only have to face repressive actions that threaten their Islamic identity but are also confronted with the most oppressive policies that destroy their noble wombs by mass immoral abortion and sterilization programs, aimed at stemming the birth of the future Islamic Mujaheed and Mujtaheed who are able to restore the glory of Islam in East Turkestan and all over the Islamic world. Meanwhile, Western governments, institutions, and organizations who never tire of preaching human rights to the world have notably but unsurprisingly been silent to this gross injustice. Not only is this further proof that under their value system, securing economic interests will always override protecting human dignity but it also further demonstrates that the capitalist, secular, democratic world order of today is impotent to eradicate oppression against humanity, including that committed against the Muslims of Xinjiang. Furthermore, Uyghur Muslim women continue to be left as helpless prey, ignored by the puppet Muslim rulers for whom cowardice, callousness and betrayal are amongst their defining marks.
We, in our description as one Ummah, cannot abandon or ignore the suffering of the Muslims of Xinjiang. So as the women of Hizb ut Tahrir, we say to our dear Uyghur sisters that we will be at the forefront of raising international awareness of their plight and calling for their protection. And we work with urgency, exerting our full efforts to establish the Khilafah, the only system that is able to save and protect the Muslim Uyghurs and give them a dignified life for it will act as the shield of the Ummah, unifying all the Muslim lands and armies under the rule of Islam. It will use its powerful international standing to strike fear in the hearts of those regimes who dare to harm a single Muslim woman, alongside mobilising its soldiers without delay to liberate the Muslims from their oppression. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
«إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ»
“Indeed the Imam (Khaleefah) is a shield from behind whom (one) would fight and one would protect oneself.”
