The Statement from the Women of Hizb ut-Tahrir-Indonesia:
The Rise of Sexual Abuse, the Rotten Fruit of Capitalism
During September, people were shocked by the numerous reports of rape cases followed by robbery and even murder at public transportation stations throughout Jakarta. The constant media coverage of sex crimes including televised debates about possible causes and solutions have encouraged similar incidents throughout other major cities in Indonesia. In 2011, forty rape cases were reported in Jakarta and more than 3700 reported incidents across Indonesia. However it is commonly known that more incidents go unreported, and from day to day the number is increasing.
The increase of sex crimes is comparable to many western capitalist countries like Britain and the United States. A possibility of 78 incidents of rape occur every hour or 683,280 each year. It's a horrible phenomenon that paints a portrait of a damaged society.
Capitalism, the system practiced in this country, is the instigator of the emergence of societal damage including fertilizing sex crimes. Its capitalist economic system has led to rampant poverty; it also encourages women to leave their homes to work late hours at night. This system also teaches people to justify any means to achieve material things. The capitalist social system allows women to expose their bodies becoming an object of sexual exploitation. Worst of all, the state does not position itself as a servant, protector, or responsible agent for its people. Therefore, it's difficult to expect any guarantee by the state to provide adequate and safe means of transportation to protect the honor of women. It is also understandable if the public loses trust in the government because the perpetrators were not subjected to any criminal sanctions due to the corrupt judiciary.
In response to the recently revealed rampant cases of rape, Muslimah Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia states:
1. The widespread cases of sex crimes only occur in societies which apply and allow the Capitalist ideology of freedom (liberalism) to expand rampantly. These crimes will be stopped through the implementation of the Islamic system, the Khilafah Islamiyah. The Islamic economic system, Islamic social system and the Islamic system of pubishments will be implemented so as to prevent various acts of criminality including sex crimes.
2. The Islamic system will provide education for women to recognize how Islam safe-guards their honor and will place sanctions on those who publicly expose their bodies. It would impose strict penalties on perpetrators of rape based on Nidzam Uqubat fi al-Islam (Islamic system of punishments). Rape accompanied by the threat of a weapon is convicted as a highway robber. Meanwhile, the penalty for highway robbers has been mentioned by Allah سبحانه وتعالى:
إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ الَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَنْ يُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
"The reprisal against those who wage war on Allah and His Messenger, and go about the earth corrupting it, is that they should be killed or crucified, or have their alternate hands and feet cut off, or be banished from the land. That will be their degradation in this world and in the Next World they will have a terrible punishment." (Surah Al Maidah: 33)
3. Only Islam and the implementation of the Islamic Sharia are able to provide reassurance to the needs of women. Protection and the fulfilment of women's needs by the state have been widely proven throughout the history of Islamic government. Throughout the history of Islamic government, women were protected and their needs were fulfilled by the State. An example of this was during the Prophet Muhammad's صلى الله عليه وسلم time when a Muslim woman was in the market of Bani Qainuqa (Jewish tribe) when a Jew untied her clothes exposing her body while she was standing. Other Jews gathered around her laughing. The woman screamed. Then one of the Sahabah came to her help and immediately killed the culprit. As a result, the Jews killed him. When this news reached the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم he immediately gathered his army. The Prophet's صلى الله عليه وسلم troops besieged them for 15 days until Bani Qainuqa surrendered due to their fear.
It is time to return the glory to human life through an earnest struggle for the Islamic Khilafah system so that all forms of criminality which damage people could soon be stopped.

the preservation of individual freedoms is the basis of Western legislation. A number of other liberal nations consider prostitution to be like any labour. Such legalisation was based on the right of expression by individual prostitutes and for the state to not interfere in the private lives of its citizens. |

Its all true.. but there are other alternatives to Capitalism other than Islam. The moral bankruptcy of Capitalsim does not preclude a similar state of affairs under Islamic rule. In Islamic cultures things are hidden and covered up - you would have no idea of the extent of rapes, domestic abuse and other forms of violence and social suffering - all as a result of the corresponding concepts of shame and honour. Most rapes are carried out by a perpetrator that knows the victim, often members of the same family. I am sure you do not have accurate statistics on this in Islamic countries. The lack of development of the criminal justice system in most Islamic countries means that more crimes will always be reported in the West - because we have developed facilities and resources to combat them. (This was only possible as a result of the wealth generated by capitalism). The West does not appeal for charity from abroad to feed its people, or provide them with medicine or education. Which Islamic countries are you certain are doing so well economically? Not the majority. The ones that have become rich have done so via export of oil to the West. Without motor engines we would not need to buy their oil. They would not be rich. Cars and planes are unlikely to have been developed were it not for the free market capitalism that operates in the countries in which they were invented. |

Freedom of Nudity, Freedom of having drugs, Freedom of fornication's etc are all needed as freedom in capitalism. Cause the philosophy of capitalism had identified the basic needs of human being is to have the freedom of doing sins. |

The Islamic Shariah Law has 5 main objectives: (not in priority order) To protect: 1) Life 2) The mind 3) The family 4) Property 5) Honour Obviously protection of the ideology/system/religion (in arabic: Deen) of Islam is a given. Capitalism has only ONE main objective: To increase: 1) Property (profits) Life? ------- As for protecting life, we can see from the genocide in Somalia exactly what value Capitalism puts on the lives of others: none. Also since 2003 there are now an additional 1,000,000 widows in Iraq. Palestine has seen massacre after massacre. During the Iraqi sanctions in the 1990s Albright said "Its a price worth paying" (when asked about the deaths of 500,000 children) By taking the figures together this is a "Muslim Holocaust" The mind? ------------ As for protecting the mind in Capitalism, this does not exist at the ideas level. No wonder there is a drugs/alcohol problem. The IDEAS of the system are flawed. Milton Friedman even argued that Cocaine should be legalized! Why? Freedom. What a twisted, confused idea of Freedom this is. Freedom means freedom from slavery, not "do-what-you-like". The Family? -------------- As for protecting the family, THIS does not exist either. So they PROMOTE "sex, drugs, and rock n roll!" (i.e. fornication) Stupid idea. Even Pat Buchanan talks about how the loss of the status of marriage has created a society of illegitimate children. "Deadbeat" fathers don't look after their children. This create a huge cost to society in crime and other costs. What happened to "Commitment"? What happened to "marriage" and "growing old together"? My local barber (a white Englishman) complains how all of HIS friends are unmarried. All of MY friends (who are all Muslims) are MARRIED with children. Our friends are around the same age group. The Capitalist SYSTEM makes it easy for a man or woman to get sex. Marriage stands about as much chance as an ice cube in a desert in Capitalism. Islam (even in the West) still provides a social system where marriage is valued and PROTECTED. This is priceless. The West should be copying this model instead of fornicating and destroying themselves. WHO will look after you in your old age if not your children? The government? Unlikely. Property? ------------ Even property (profits) protection ends up in colonialism, as the profits of oil companies and weapons companies override and concerns about an "ethical foreign policy". The financial interests of a tiny elite overwhelm the interests of the entire nation. The system protects the power and privilege and property of the rich. For the poor, there are * temporary contracts * 3 or 4 careers in a lifetime * a worse financial future than their parents This is progress? Honour? -------- Capitalism has no concern with protecting the "honour" of a woman. The very notion would make some people laugh. Are you a knight on a horse, from the middle ages are something? They would say. In fact in a survey amongst university students the question was asked "If you could be invisible (or get away with it) would you rape a woman?" 70% said yes. This is a sad state of affairs. But it is no wonder when they want to teach 5 year old children about "sex" in British schools. Madness. When some parents complained about the "sex" education the local government authority took them to court! How about "marriage" education? What's wrong with responsibility? What's wrong with commitment? Capitalism's social system is toxic. Capitalism's economic system is bankrupt. Capitalism's foreign policy is genocidal. A toxic, bankrupt, genocidal, suicidal, capitalism. We would do well to avoid this Suicidal Capitalism. Even some in the West are having second thoughts. Shariah Law with its 5 objectives is a much better healthier alternative. |
