Detective Branch of police arrested two activists of banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir with leaflets and some publications, compact disks and laptops at Norda from the city's Gulshan area early Monday.
Fazle Wahab Litu, 43, and Ashfaq-e-Zaman, 32, were arrested from the latter's residence around 3:00am, said Md Tareq, an assistant commissioner of DB police, said while addressing a press briefing at DB office in the afternoon.
Asked what the law enforcers found with them, he replied that a large quantity of leaflets and Hizbut publications, CDs and several laptops were seized from the house.
When the duo was produced before reporters, Litu denied his involvement with Hizb ut-Tahrir. "I am a member of tablig (a non-political Islamic organisation)" he said.
Ashfaque also denied his involvement with the outfit.
When reporters asked him about the leaflets publications, CDs and laptops, Ashfaque said his younger brother Liton might be involved with Hizb ut-Tahrir and he kept those in the house.
Law enforcers have strengthened their activities to net members of the outfit after the army indicated its involvement in the recent foiled plot to topple the government.
