A physician of a reputed city hospital was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of his involvement with banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion-1 picked up Dr Golam Haider Rasul, a cardiac surgeon of United Hospital, from his residence at Uttara Sector-3 around 2:00am, Commander M Sohail, director of Legal and Media wing of Rab, told The Daily Star.
The elite force also recovered huge leaflets of the outfit from his house.
Rasul, who achieved his MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College, was a close associate of Maulana Mamunur Rahman, a former chief of Hizb ut-Tahrir who is now in jail, M Sohail said quoting Rasul.
Rasul admitted that he has been working as an adviser of the outfit, M Sohail said.
He will be handed over to Uttara Police Station.
Another doctor along with four others was arrested at Uttara on Friday for their involvement with the banned outfit.
Law enforcers have strengthened their activities to net members of the outfit after the army indicated its involvement in the recent foiled plot to topple the government.
