GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Islamist movement Hizb Ut-Tahrir said Gaza security forces released five of its affiliates, detained the day before.
A statement from the party said three were released on Thursday evening and another two were released "in the middle of the night," also on Thursday.
Spokesman for the organization, which seeks to re-establish an Islamic Caliphate across the Middle East, Ibrahim Ash-Sharif called on the Gaza government to review the way it dealt with the younger members of the movement.
Following the detentions, movement officials denounced it as an "oppressive and irresponsible act" and called on the government to stop harassing party affiliates.
