Dushanbe, August 5, Interfax - The city court in Khujand (Tajikistan) brought the sentence in the case of 10 activists of the Hizb ut-Tahrir extremist religious party.
They were sentenced to three to 15 years of confinement in high security prisons
The local media said one of convicted is a 70-year-old man and was sentenced to six years in jail.
The defendants were found guilty of publicly calling for overthrowing power, with organizing a criminal community, and fanning ethnic and religious enmity, the statement says.
At the end of June the same court sentenced four other members of Hizb ut-Tahrir to various prison terms on the same charges and 10 suspected party members were sentenced in January to prison terms ranging from 8.5 to 15.5 years.
Tajikistan officially banned Hizb ut-Tahrir's operation on its territory in 2001.
