VIDEO. The Global Economic Crisis: Causes & The Islamic Alternative

E-mail Print PDF

This event was organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia on 24th October 2008. Around 300 people attended the lecture held at the University of New South Wales to listen to Professor Steve Keen and Wassim Doureihi discussing the current financial crisis and the solution from Islam.

The global financial crisis has brought the world face to face with an imminent global depression. With frequent comparisons to the Great Depression the stakes could not be higher.

What is worse is the evident inability of policymakers to decisively pinpoint the causes of the crisis and implement real solutions. Instead they have wandered aimlessly with policies contradicting everything free market capitalism stands for with the aim of saving it!

If anything is certain at this time of great uncertainty it is the need for a new paradigm: fresh and consistent ideas to challenge the systemic fallacies of 21st century capitalism.

As Salamu Alaikum,

It's nice to see people from other beliefs are realizing the atrocities capitalism has brought to humanity. This clearly proves the failure of Capitalism as an Economic System. Inshallah , Khilafah will resolve the problem and it's not very far from where we are standing
