Strategic Estimate 2011 is the second annual assessment of the global balance of power by Khilafah.com. Our assessment focuses on the global trends, the emerging trends and the developments that have taken shape during the year between the world's powers. We also give our assessment on what is likely to occur in 2011 based on the current international situation.
We concluded in our 2010 assessment that the US remained the world's superpower, however it had been over-stretched in both the wars it was engaged in after the events of 9/11, this led to a number of nations taking a more confident and in some cases a confrontational approach to the US in the different regions of the world.
In 2010, the US worked to extricate itself from the Iraq and Afghan wars which depleted her resources and undermined her prowess. Troop levels in Iraq became synonymous with success to the US public. The US attempted to pursue the same policy in Afghanistan, but found the conditions much different to the fertile ground it found in Iraq. 2010 saw the world's superpower consumed with attempting to disengage from foreign policy ambitions that were undertaken at the beginning of the 21st century.
The major development in 2010 was the successful expansion of Russian influence in its periphery. With the US marred in two wars Russia for the last decade has been working to reverse US attempts through NATO and the European Union expansion in bringing the former Soviet republic under its influence. Russia in 2010 worked to end the colour revolutions instigated by the US in order to expand its influence beyond its immediate territory.
The global economy at the end of 2009 was coming out of recession and had averted global economic collapse. The trillions spent on stimulus plans and quantitative easing (the printing of money) ensured this, however this money was meant to kick start economic growth. The quest for economic growth characterised the global economy in 2010.
2010 also saw the rise of Turkey as a regional player. In this report we asses Turkey's foreign policy positions and analyse its trajectory and ask the question if Turkey is an independent power?
What follows' inshallah is the author's opinion and assessment of 2010 and the trends for 2011 and beyond. Like any assessment, they are merely estimates and forecasts; as global politics is always in a state of flux such an assessment will never remain static.

And the proof is the struggle between Iranian, Ahmadi Najad, and Islamist (Khameini). The first is concerned about Iran and the secong is about Islamisation of Iran. Just because a country is a moajority Muslim does not make it an Islamic State, even if it has the Shahada in its flag. |

Iran is not the only country that has ousted a US puppet, the list really is just too long for me to list them, but the ousting of US puppets recently includes Hosni Mubarak as well as Russia overthrow of the Orange revolution in Ukraine. I think it’s important to understand what an Islamic state is then we can apply this criteria upon a country. The constitution of Iran has many articles which comply with Islam but there others which directly conflict with it. It is important to point out that for a constitution to be an Islamic, not even a single article or part of it can contradict Islamic laws. In article 6 of Iran’s constitution it says: In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the affairs of the country must be administered on the basis of public opinion expressed by the means of elections, including the election of the President, the representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and the members of councils, or by means of referenda in matters specified in other articles of this Constitution. This article directly contradicts Islam as it allows public opinion to decide the laws rather then the shari'ah only. It indicates that "running of the affairs of the country is based on the opinions of the masses through elections". In Islam, the running of the affairs of the country is based on the Shariyah itself not on the opinions of the people. Iran’s has not built its economic, foreign or social policies on Islam, It may have some Islamic rules, but Islam is not the basis. Iran with the US invaded Afghanistan and participated in the spilling of Muslim blood there. For the record we do not consider Saudi Arabia an Islamic state, Like Iran it implements Islam wherever it wants and Kufr wherever it wants. |

Bismillah Salam You have a very flawed account of Iran. Iran is the only country which ousted a US-puppet dictator (the Shah) and established an Islamic Republic, which also takes account of its people in an elected Parliament. It is led by an Islamic scholar who is monitored by a Council of scholars. You have mistakenly called the Leader of Iran as Ayatollah "Khomeini", whereas Imam Khomeini died in 1989. A serious political group should not make such a silly error. The Leader today is Imam Khamenei. Iran is supporting groups who are trying to get US to leave Iraq, Iran is the only country, next to Syria, who is funding Hezbollah and Hamas to fight Israel. Iran was the first Muslim country - and actually the first country at all - to support the Egyptian Revolution in 2011. Saudi Arabia has diplomatic relations with the US, and has even asked the US to stop Iran's nuclear work for energy - is this a way for a Muslim country to behave? Respect Iran please. If you don't respect Iran as the leading Islamic player, next to Turkey, you will never succeed. Look at how Ahmadinejad has the faith to stand in front of the world and say, 'We, the Islamic Republic, will continue with our energy projects, and the US and the global powers cannot do anything to stop us, God Willing." A true Islamic party must be more honest and clear-sighted in its political outlook. I do not read a clear vision in your statements. |
