If European countries haven't made it clear enough that Islamic beliefs are no longer welcome on the continent, Belgium is now the next in a long list of nations who how have a problem with its Muslim minority. Within the last three months a bill has been rushed through parliament to ban the Burka. It has now been passed by Belgium's lower house of parliament and will ban women from wearing the full Islamic face veil in public. The law will ban any clothing that obscures the identity of the wearer in places like parks and on the street. Since no politician voted against the legislation, the bill goes to the Senate, where it is likely to face little opposition. Daniel Bacquelaine, the liberal MP who proposed the bill, said: "We cannot allow someone to claim the right to look at others without being seen."
The new law has surprised many, this is because according to research only around 30 women wear this kind of veil in Belgium, out of a Muslim population of around half a million. The BBC's Dominic Hughes said MPs backed the legislation on the grounds of security, to allow police to identify people. Those who break the law could face a fine of 15-25 euros (£13-£27) or a seven-day jail sentence.
The fundamentalist attempts to ban the Burka come at time when the Belgium coalition government - only 5 months in office, collapsed on April 26th 2010. The Burka ban in reality is the least of Belgium's problems. The Belgium government collapsed due to the 5 party coalition government continued disagreements over electoral districting rules in the neighborhoods surrounding the bilingual capital, Brussels, between the country's French- and Dutch-speaking communities. The communities from French Wallonia and Dutch Flanders provinces have a history of friction. The split between Wallonia and Flanders has evolved as Flanders pushed ahead in terms of population and economic power; the Dutch-speaking region currently accounts for around 60% of Belgium's population. The crux of the problem, is that the economically stronger Flanders want to dissolve the remaining vestiges of Wallonia's political advantages. But Francophones in Wallonia understand that this will lead to an end in economic transfer payments and their economic ruin.
These issues have been so divisive that commentators claim the in-fighting may lead to the country literally being ripped apart, each side being absorbed into France and the Netherlands depending on the community's ethnicity. Any separation on a cultural basis is also a major concern for surrounding European countries which also suffer from internal divisions. This would encourage separatists like those in Catalonia and the Basque region in Spain, who have resorted to violence in their efforts to gain independence.
It is extraordinary that the Niqab is deemed a bigger threat than their toxic nationalism. Unfortunately this is not the first nor will this be the last time the Muslim community is used for politics. We are witnessing across Europe country after country banning parts of Islam. The centre-right MP Denis Ducarme said: "It is necessary that the law forbids the wearing of clothes that totally mask and enclose an individual. Wearing the burqa in public is not compatible with an open, liberal, tolerant society. I am proud that Belgium would be the first country in Europe which dares to legislate on this sensitive matter."
Without the shade of the Khilafah we are witnessing irrelevant nations such as Belgium that have no global stature, playing politics with Islam. The Muslim rulers have shown time and time again that they are no defenders of the deen. There are numerous examples from Islamic history, where the enemies of Islam thought twice before they attempted to malign Islam because of the possible repercussions. The return of the Khilafah as promised by the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will strike fear into the enemies of Islam whenever they try to play politics with Islam and Muslims. Only the Khilafah is the salvation of the ummah.

I have responded to President of France and also sent appeals by email to British Prime Minister David Cameron and to Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace regarding the issue of Burqa Veil of Muslims which are being banned in France. I think that Britain is set to follow them. As we are British we have a right to speak out and defend our values and beliefs in the EU. That is what is equality and democracy: everyone must maintain and uphold their values and beliefs without fear of emotions of other communities and their values and beliefs. The communities must not threaten or bully one another. The niqab or burqa as Muslim women are seen wearing in public and private places are not extremism, they are not an attack on womens rights, they are not an exhibition of prejudices or enmity against French or European members of communities in any part of the world. Such opinions are based on completely wrong assumptions. The Muslim communities do not act upon the same theologies and philosophies attached to veil and long dressings as in Jewish and Christian schools of thoughts. Maybe women were forced in Europe and Russia in the middle ages and in the 18th and 19th centuries to wear similar religious clothing as those of Muslims and maybe there were cases of women acting against such rulings privately and had revolted time and again. They may have felt exploited politically and may not have been interested in religion at all. Those who loved religious way of life continued to wear such clothing and some of the pious Jewish and Christian even today wear long dressing and a veil as it is prescribed in Torah and Bible. Nobody objects to that. They are respected as highly religious and pious women. Foremost have been such women like Mother Theresa, Christian Sisters and Nuns, Jewish sisters and charity workers in USA and Russia, women nurses and hospital staff etc. Why this campaign against Muslim women in niqab and burqa ? What is it that is upsetting the Christian and Jewish communities ? Why are they thinking of banning it and fining and imprisoning those who uphold the tradition ? Should they not rather support them and appreciate the full veil that covers the face and body, as a respect to Islamic faith and also to their own faith and religion ? Surely, it is purely a religious matter and not a political, social or economic issue. If people do not see any sense in religion and are no longer religious, then they must leave it alone and not meddle with it and certainly not attack it with political and social philosophies. The Muslim women who are in niqab and burqa deeply love Islamic religion. That is their main and only reason for wearing the veil and all other human beings must respect their wishes and their choices in life. Where there are practical issues with veil coming in the way, then these ladies are educated and cooperative enough to make adjustments to meet the employer requirements and other such situations. There is absolutely no humane reason to ban the veil and burqa at any place and anywhere in the world. All excuses given so far are nothing but vain talk and idle conversations which are prejudiced against the religion of God almighty and for that all leaders and governments will be held responsible by God. The Muslim women's veil to fully conceal the face and not to show their beauty and adornments, gold and jewellery in public eye is God's law and not man's law. We are all bound to it and such lifelong commitment to God's law is worship of the one true God whom we all love. |

Belgium was declared as an independent state in 1830 having formerly been a province of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Dutch Republic was the predecessor of the modern day Netherlands and the Austrian Netherlands (Belgium) were Habsburg territories which were awarded to the Dutch Republic by Napoleon Bonaparte. These Southern Netherlands were a mixture of Dutch and French speaking people (north and south respectively). The Belgian revolution saw the independence of Belgium and termination of United Kingdom of Netherlands. The major states of Europe recognised Belgium. The Southern Netherlands were merged into the Dutch Republic during the Congress of Vienna in order to create a strong buffer state north of France. Historically France and Austria always dominated the German speaking states of Middle Europe. Only unification of Prussia would reverse foreign domination and the recognition of Belgian integrity would be a tactic to retain a balance of power in Western Europe. Another reason for awarding Southern Netherlands to the Dutch Republic was as compensation for the British acquisition of Ceylon and Cape Colony (southern Africa) from the Dutch Empire. Eventually the smaller state of Belgium became a buffer between Germany (as the strongest power in Europe) and France. British policy then shifted to supporting France as the second strongest European power against Germany, and using the Neutrality Clause to contain Germany. Ultimately when North Western Europe and Germany underwent industrialisation and the competitiveness and increasing prosperity of Europe increased, Britain faced a new challenge to its economic/industrial hegemony and saw the rapidly industrialising German Empire as a competitor to be undermined. Germany replaced France as a British concern (noting that under Chancellor Bismarck Germany cultivated good relations with Austria-Hungary and Tsarist Russia). |

9 years ago, america considered itself to be at the apex of power, and much of the world perceived it to be as well. 9 years ago, it's economy was somewhat booming (on the surface). 9 years ago, america set out to crush the rise of an alternative ideology that had made headway, an ideology which was believed to have been destroyed in 1924 with the fragmentation of the ottoman caliphate, and with the abolotion of the caliphate itself through the designs of england, france, america and their allies in WWI, an ideology which offered a different creed, an alternative form of banking, an alternative form of government and an alternative form of taxation. 9 years ago the focus of this effort was afghanistan. The world pretended to join hands with america and america felt a sense of false euphoria. 9 years ago, sympathies were directed towards america because of something which was obviously orchestrated (though even if it was not orchestrated, it would have been justified). 9 years ago, countries like Somalia had been at the rude end of america's revenge. For, when the somali's kicked the americans out (black hawk down), the americans revelled in the fact that the country was split into 14 warring factions, and was destroying itself. Countries like yemen were barely on the map. Pakistan was not a table talk word in america. 9 years late, and... There is a raging Islamic insurgency in Yemen, threatening not only the Yemeni government but saudi arabia to the north. There is a raging Islamic insurgency in Pakistan, the western part of the country is essentially out of the control of the government and is expanding. Afghanistan is firmly back under the control of the taliban. Somalia is completely under the control of the shabbab, and the "transitional government" runs just a few blocks in mogadishu. An independent Islamic emirate has been declared in Ingushetia, Chechnya and Dagestan. The jewish allies of america had the myth of their military invinsibility crushed in south lebanon. America is COMPLETELY bankrupt. America is COMPLETELY bankrupt. America is COMPLETELY bankrupt. America is no longer feared, respected or sympathized with ANYWHERE. Internally America is a hot bed of ignorance, surveillance, spying, over taxation, debauchery and disunity. just 9 years? Empire is a myth. The strength of empire is a MYTH. It's time america stop compensating for it's unprecedented embarassment abroad by attempting to unveil our women. ************************************ |
