UK: New Powers to Combat Islam, or a Justification for Propaganda?

News:

A future Conservative government would seek new powers to ban extremist groups and curb the activities of “harmful” individuals, Theresa May has said. Banning orders and “extreme disruption” orders will feature in the party’s 2015-election manifesto, the home secretary told the party’s Birmingham conference. Ms. May was among a number of high-profile speakers on the third day of the Conservative Party conference. In her speech, the home secretary attacked the Liberal Democrats for thwarting attempts to introduce new data monitoring powers and promised that the Home Office would take control of all of the government’s extremism policies. She called for changes to the way police stop and search powers were used, saying legislation would be used if necessary. She warned about the establishment of the “world’s first truly terrorist state” in Iraq and Syria, saying that she’d so far removed the passports of 25 Britons seeking to travel to Syria. The new measures will be targeted at people and groups who “stay just within the law but spread poisonous hatred”, she said. [Source: BBC, 30/09/2014]

Comment:

As usual the reactionary and pragmatic stance taken by the shallow thought system of the secular liberal Capitalists reveals itself as a tool of prejudice and hate. During her term in office as Home Secretary, Theresa May has excelled in vilifying not only innocent Muslim individuals such as Abu Qatada, Talha Ahsan, Baber Ahmad and Moazzam Baig, but she has with the full backing of her party, engineered attack after attack on a weekly if not daily basis against the Muslim community in Britain, by targeting Islamic practices and principles such as dress code, segregation, halal meat, Islamic schooling, integration and the Caliphate. After creating staunch public opinion about ISIS, in order to blur the reality of their own war on Islam and the sincere revolution in Syria, the British media has played its usual role in generating mass paranoia, linking the actions of ISIS to Islamic thought alone. Added to this, the insistence by leading figures, for the Muslim community to continually apologise for the actions of a few; as well as the government friendly scholars who choose to uphold this blame culture and the narrative of the evil ideology, only serves to alienate the Muslim community further. Theresa May’s new promises of powers to combat so called ‘hate speech’ is primarily to restore public confidence and secure votes in the elections which are only months away. Nevertheless it is obvious that continued efforts will attempt to thwart the spread of the Islamic thought about the Khilafah and jihad, especially among the youth, and university Islamic societies will be under the spotlight, as will public speakers and imams be under greater scrutiny, where any sympathy for the cause of Khilafah, as well as freedom fighters and even humanitarian aid workers is being misrepresented as an affiliation with ISIS. Banning orders for groups and individuals who she says “stay just within the law”, and spying on Muslims by hacking into emails, is a route the Conservatives are keen to adopt in a weak attempt to secure secular British values. We have seen in previous years the whimsical nature of British common law, which adapts to situations in such a pragmatic manner, that deeply held values such as freedoms of the general population are easily compromised in order to secure a foreign policy benefit. Hence we have seen a change in law, enabling the detention of ‘terror’ suspects for longer periods with little evidence, renditions, house arrests and even anti-social behavioral orders (ASBO’s) meted out to imams for speaking about segregation and for not condemning FGM (female genital mutilation). The atmosphere of hatred towards Islam peddled by this woman and British politicians alike, will never quell the Islamic revival, rather it will strengthen the Ummah further bi’idthnillah.
