British Prime Minister Gordon Brown today welcomed Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari to Downing Street for talks and a joint press conference. Zardari was returning from a four day visit to America where he met President Barack Obama and other US government officials.
Once again we see the British government roll out the red carpet for another Muslim ruler who is engaged in the barbaric slaughter of his own people. By the Zardari regime’s own account a staggering 1.3 million people have been forced to leave their homes because of the indiscriminate military attacks which Zardari ordered. This amounts to the collective punishment of a whole population, similar to the recent Israeli treatment of the Palestinians in Gaza. A human catastrophe is unfolding in front of the world yet Gordon Brown welcomes this despicable tyrant with open arms.
The reason why Brown has welcomed Zardari today is because the British government together with the American administration have demanded that the Zardari regime launch these savage attacks against its own people in return for continued political support for a man who has no legitimacy amongst the Pakistani people. In the eyes of almost every Pakistani, Zardari is seen as a thoroughly corrupt and treacherous man who will cut any deal with anyone as long as he personally stands to profit. As long as the American and British governments continue to provide their ‘aid’ money of a few billion dollars and pounds, which are nothing more than open bribes, the Zardari regime will willingly obey and murder its own people. Western supported democracy has once again produced another despot in Pakistan not unlike the previous military ruler Pervez Musharraf. At a time when the Zardari regime has declared that Pakistan is ‘fighting for its survival’, it is remarkable that the man who has ordered this massacre in Swat has found the time to tour Washington and London hence showing where he gets his real support.
In the run up to this new operation, a media campaign has been waged questioning the viability of the Pakistani state, the safety of its nuclear weapons and deliberately raising the spectre of ‘terrorists’ taking over Pakistan. In this context the ‘Shariah in Swat’ deal was cast by the Zardari regime as an attempt to sell the notion to the Pakistani people that a peaceful settlement had been sought with the Taliban but they flouted this agreement by seeking to overrun Islamabad; they were left with no choice but to launch an all out military assault. Yet the fact is that the 700,000 man Pakistani army could never be defeated by a few hundred irregular fighters at best and this whole surreal narrative was a lie to begin with. The Zardari regime never had any intention of a peaceful settlement and was simply politically paving the way for this brutal bloodletting.
The American and British governments share this blood on their hands. They are the real drivers of this mass murder. The fact is that this latest operation is part of the West’s global ‘War on Terror’ which has now crossed the border into Pakistan. The hypocrisy of the Brown government is apparent as it actively demands a ceasefire from the Sri Lankan government which is also conducting a military campaign against the Tamil Tigers at this time. Neither did the British government when confronting the IRA in Northern Ireland resort to mass expulsions of the civilian population, aerial bombardment and artillery shelling. Yet, in Pakistan, they demand that this be done and Muslim blood be spilt. The inevitable result can only be a civil war in northern Pakistan, where the Pakistan army will now be seen as an occupying force.
This suits the American and British governments perfectly. Where as in Afghanistan they seek to negotiate with the Pashtun resistance, in Pakistan they are deliberately seeking to weaken and wreck another strategically located and resource rich Muslim power. As the former Centcom advisor, Colonel Kilcullen said in London yesterday ‘FATA is now yesterday’s problem…the real problem for Pakistan now is in Punjab and Sindh… we need to focus on building up Pakistan’s police forces and making sure they are the frontline force in those provinces.’ The scene is being set for the next phase of the Western plan. It is clear that in the coming weeks and months, in the next stage of the ‘Pakistan collapse’ narrative, we will be told these parts of Pakistan are also becoming infected with ‘terrorists’.
The whole reason why the British, American and other Western governments sponsor brutal tyrants such as Zardari is because they fear the growing call in the Muslim lands such as Pakistan for Islam and the re-establishment of the Khilafah. Their strategy revolves around the simple objective of preventing Muslims from controlling their own political destiny. Indeed the British Raj deployed such ruthless tactics in India. The fact that the British government is supporting another slaughter by another Muslim ruler in another Muslim land only serves to show the depth of hatred the British government has for both Islam and Muslims.
Zardari and those executing this military operation should remember what Allah سبحانه وتعالىsays about such treacherous behaviour.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاء بَعْضٍ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ
“O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.” [Al-Maeda, 5:51]
“And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send His wrath on him and curse him and prepare for him a painful chastisement.” [An-Nisa, 4:93]
The Muslims in Pakistan do not face a threat from the Shariah. The real threat they face is from the continued Western interference which has presided over the destruction and eventual division of Iraq and has now turned its sights to Pakistan in the name of its global offensive against all Islamic revival. The revival of the Khilafah inshallah will bring such bloodshed to an end and consign the likes of Zardari to history’s dustbin.
