Clinton’s sensational remarks show Pakistan is the next target

Clinton’s sensational comments are once again designed to ratchet up and continue the propaganda to malign and put together the case against Pakistan. In a matter of months we have seen US and British officials talk up the threat from nowhere that is supposed to emanate from Pakistan. Recently the British Foreign Secretary David Milliband also alleged that 9/11 was planned and executed from Pakistan’s tribal areas. The reality is that whilst publically US officials criticise the efforts of the Pakistani regime, in private the Zardari regime is fully co-operating with America. This is why America currently enjoys access to several bases inside Pakistan including those from which it operates it’s drones to launch airstrikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas. This is why over 400 trucks carrying 80% of the fuel, weapons and other supplies for the American and NATO armies cross over from Pakistan into Afghanistan every day. None of this would be possible without the continued co-operation and treachery of the Zardari regime against it’s own people.

Appearing before the US Senate’s Foreign Affair’s Committee on 22nd April 2009, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said: “Pakistan poses a mortal threat to the security and safety of our country and the world….and I want to take this occasion….to state unequivocally that not only do the Pakistani government officials, but the Pakistani people and the Pakistani diaspora….need to speak out forcefully against a policy that is ceding more and more territory to the insurgents….I think that we cannot underscore the seriousness of the existential threat posed to the state of Pakistan by continuing advances, now within hours of Islamabad, that are being made by a loosely confederated group of terrorists and others who are seeking the overthrow of the Pakistani state, a nuclear-armed state…..I think that the Pakistani government is basically abdicating to the Taliban and to the extremists…. The US is advancing its relationship with India as part of a wide-ranging diplomatic agenda to meet today’s daunting challenges topped by the situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan.”

The fact of the matter is that the Zardari regime is colluding very closely with the Americans. Whilst Clinton made her remarks the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen yet again made his way to Islamabad to meet Pakistani officials. The decision by Zardari to assent to the implementation of so called ‘Shariah law’ in Swat is a mere eyewash. It is a matter of fact that the complete Shariah can only be implemented at state level by the Khilafah – a few elements such as the penal code do not constitute an Islamic state. Instead the promulgation of this ordinance by the Zardari regime is part of the American agenda deliberately created and exploited by Western officials such as Hillary Clinton to continue to build the public case against Pakistan to set the scene for Western military intervention. It is simply incredulous to believe that a country with a professional army of over 700,000 men and a modern air force would simply capitulate in a matter of weeks. The Zardari regime is deliberately helping to create a perception of Pakistan that America desires by apparently ceding territory to the small band of fighters in NWFP: a perception that of a failing lawless state that is about to be completely overrun by terrorists who will gain access to Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal.

This is also explains the continued American led attack on the integrity of the Pakistan armed forces and it’s elite intelligence service the ISI. America is again resorting to the same scaremongering and character assassination that we saw in a narrative reminiscent to the run up before the Iraq invasion and occupation. The real issue at hand is the failing American led occupation of Afghanistan and the continued American attacks inside Pakistan which have displaced over a million Muslims in Pakistan and killed hundreds of innocent men, women and children.

The internal security of Pakistan can never improve whilst the FBI and CIA maintain bases inside Pakistan. It is not surprising at all that the internal security of Pakistan continues to deteriorate when America is being given such a level of unprecedented access both in terms of bases inside Pakistan and the level of contact it has established with Pakistani officials. America has every motive to deliberately destabilise Pakistan as it fears a powerful nuclear armed Muslim nation in which there is a growing tide calling for Islam. This is why America is trying it’s hardest to sow conflict in Pakistan at every level; militarily by inciting the Pakistani rulers to launch military operations against it’s own people in the tribal areas, intellectually by creating the issue of ‘Talibanisation’ in an attempt to create a false debate between different segments and strata’s in Pakistani society. This is why it is also trying to sell the idea that India is not a threat to Pakistan; speaking at Harvard University on 21st April 2009 General Petraeus said Pakistan’s leaders need to realise that their biggest threat comes from ‘internal extremists’, not from India. This is a ludicrous concept given that India has fought three wars with Pakistan and as recently as the Mumbai attacks was threatening to launch another one. America is seeking to create internal disorder inside Pakistan to weaken it whilst simultaneously empowering India.

Contrary to Clinton’s assertions, what Muslims in Pakistan actually despise most is the continued support by the American government for Zardari’s corrupt regime. For many Muslims in Pakistan both inside and outside Pakistan the real threat they perceive is not from Islam but from America which is desperate to expand her ‘War on Terror’ to Pakistan. America knows that it is losing the battle for the hearts and minds not only of the Muslims of Pakistan but also that of the Pakistani military too. That is why America seek’s to malign the reputation of Pakistan because her armed forces have the power to establish the Khilafah while America struggles with her financial collapse and military overstretch.
