Russian Media reported that on Saturday, November 1, the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov met with a delegation of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, headed by Sheikh Ali Muhiddin al-Karadagi. The General Secretary of the WUMS said that today’s visit was the beginning of a long path. Earlier, the delegation of the World Union of Muslim Scholars visited Nalchik, where was the International Interfaith Conference “Traditional Religions: call for moderation and good neighborly relations”. The result of its work was the adoption of the declaration, which reflected the fundamental principles of the Muslim community’s relations with the state and society.

The delegation of the WUMS arrived in Russia to spread the ideas of moderation, tolerance and unity. But all these missions of the Arab world scholars spreading the ideas of a “traditional Islam” cannot hide an anti-Islamic Russian policy. Rather the opposite the Russian Muslims are increasingly convinced that the WUMS is no different from those Russian SAMs (Spiritual Administration of Muslims) that defend the taghut. The Russian Muslims do not need a structure that will justify the ideas of a “moderate Islam” by means of the moderate Arab world scholars’ approval. And if the authorities believe that they will change the attitude of the Muslim community towards them, by the fact that these scholars will travel on the North Caucasus republics, they are profoundly mistaken. First of all, it is necessary to ensure the security and stability in the society demanded by the very nature of a man, and not to create an atmosphere of fear and tension by murders, kidnappings and tortures of the Muslims. It is necessary to stop the bans of the Islamic literature, the Holy Quran’s ayat, Prophet Muhammad’s صلى الله عليه وسلم hadiths and also not to raise difficulties to wear hijabs at schools and universities. Without all these it is impossible to stop the so-called radicalization and convince the Muslims that the territory of the North Caucasus to be the territory of peace by Karadagi’s statement.

And as for the WUMS’ scholars, they will never acquire the true trust of the North Caucasus’ Muslims until they say the word of truth to an unjust ruler and will not stand against the protection of the interests of the Islamic Ummah. Russia needs to recognize that a negative attitude of the North Caucasus’ Muslims is primarily the reaction to its own policy in the region and the country as a whole, and therefore the solution lies precisely in the change of this attitude, not in the invitation of the loyal scholars.
