A Shameful Presidential Stalemate Ended with a More Shameful Finish

On 21st September, at the presidential palace, presidential candidates, Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah have signed the “National Unity Government”.

President Hamid Karzai congratulated the candidates on signing the agreement, calling it an “Afghan agreement” and said, “We hope that you [the candidates] can continue the things that the current government started”. Other prominent political figures and members of both electoral teams were present at the ceremony.

Soon after the agreement was signed, the White House issued a press release in which the candidates were applauded for the formation of the national unity government.

“Signing this political agreement helps bringing a closure to Afghanistan’s political crisis, and restores confidence in the way forward. We support this agreement and stand ready to work with the next administration to ensure its success,” the statement read. “Reaching this agreement required difficult choices, partnership and compromise on the part of both candidates and the outcome of their talks prioritizes the recognized needs of the Afghan nation ahead of politics or individual power,” it added.

Indeed this whole episode has utterly exposed the ugly face of the imposed Western political System and showed to the people that this system is meant to serve the corrupt ruling elites, who put all rules, regulations, law and constitution under their feet. It also exposed that the system and the agent, rulers are controlled directly and through remote control from U.S. Despite knowing that the whole practice, dividing ministries, governorships and other positions for the last few months is illegal according to the secular constitution of Afghanistan, they are allowed to breach any law. In fact, laws are only meant for the poor and weak citizens.

Change will only occur when we abolish this man-made system and replace it by a system in which rulers only rule according to the commands and prohibition of Allah سبحانه وتعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. Such a state is called the Khilafah. In the Khilafah, rulers do not make laws according to their whims and desires, rather they implement laws according to the Quran and Sunnah and thus the Khilafah prevents exploitation of the people by foreign colonialists and their local agents. Also in the Khilafah, the elected men and women of the Majlis-e-Ummah do not make laws either, but advise and account the rulers to make sure they rule by Islam.
