Dhaka Factory Fire: Muslims suffer under the negligence of Sheikh Hasina's regime

E-mail Print PDF

On the 25th November 2012 more than 100 Muslims were killed in a clothes factory fire in Bangladesh. Although the facts surrounding the cause of the fire are still unknown, one thing the world can observe clearly is the lack of health and safety that exists within the workplace in the Muslim World.

It is no secret that some of the Muslim countries such as Pakistan and Bangladesh have some of the worst records when it comes to the day to day managing of citizen's affairs from the poor road infrastructures to the lack of sterilisation protocols in hospitals to the absence of basic code of conduct or 'house rules' that exist in companies in the West.

Many believe we simply lack the sensibility for quality management that exists in the West, whilst others believe we lack a well-controlled taxation system which allows for the government to invest in policing, schools, hospitals e.t.c, but the problem which is intrinsic to these points and must be highlighted is the view with which the so called leaders of the Muslim World see their people.

Just recently we have seen the thousands of displaced Muslims of Rohingya being rejected stay by the government of the wicked Sheikh Hasina who are have been trying to escape the persecution of Buddhists in Burma. What makes us think that she cares about any other Bangladeshi Muslim whether they are from outside Bangladesh or not?

From appeasing her colonial masters America/India in her foreign policy, to routine arresting and abduction of political activists who are accounting her government to imposing amendments to secularise the constitution and implement a ruling system which is completely against the norms, values and beliefs of Muslims living in Bangladesh, just what has she done to show that she cares for the people?

To expect investment of time and money to industrialise Bangladesh and to take its people from living a poor quality of life in poverty, distress, exhaustion to a life where an individual can feed his family, drink clean water and have a reason to wake up in the morning is only something that the Khilafah can bring.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "A ruler who, having control over the affairs of the Muslims, does not strive diligently for their betterment and does not serve them sincerely, will not enter Jannah with them.'' [Muslim]

Implementing, Health and Safety practises within companies is hardly a problem that compares, yet we see no action consistently from the likes of Sheikh Hasina, Asif Ali Zardari or any of the leaders of the Muslim World that shows that they sincerely care for their people.

In the Khilafah, it is incumbent on the state to supervise the whole affairs of industry. (Article 156, draft constitution of the Islamic State).

We are not naïve to expect such actions from the atrocious cartoon characters of leaders that we have, rather the Muslims are on the verge of reasserting themselves in order to take not only the Muslim Lands, but humanity from darkness to light via the Khilafah State.

"O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good news and a warner, and a caller to Allah by His permission and a light-giving lamp."

(Al-Ahzab, 33:45-46)
