Arrests of Peaceful Activists Expose Weak Position of Hasina Regime

On Friday, 23 May 2014, Bengali police arrested five members and activists of Hizb ut Tahrir in Chittagong city of Bangladesh and three others from the Muslims who were opposing police action. The arrested are Mohammad Wahid, Mohammad Najmul, Mirza Mohammad Saim, Mohammad Hasan, Shahadat Hossain, Mohammad Rusl, and Mohammad Hossain. The police also arrested Atikur Rahman who is 24 years old and a Master of Business Administration student of Chittagong University. According to the police, all were charged with circulating anti-government leaflets among people. The Magistrate ordered the imprisonment of the eight detainees and be sent to prison.

It seems as if the regime has continued to carry out such cowardly actions. During the past five years, hundreds of members and activists of Hizb ut Tahrir were arrested during processions and other activities hauled away to jail only because they were calling the people of power for the application of the ‘Deen’ which the Muslims of Bangladesh have been demanding for a long time. Hizb activists have always been peaceful while distributing leaflets, during rallies or addressing masses. Nevertheless, the authorities dispersed its rallies with brute force. Even distributing leaflets outside the mosque in a calm manner is not tolerated by the regime, that regime which pretends to profess in so-called democracy and freedom of expression.

A wing commander of the regime’s notorious institute and symbol of terror Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) admits that the Hizb members are highly educated, and they have the resolve and determination, hold high positions in the society, and confesses that it cannot deal with Hizb in the same way it deals with others. The regime appears in a very weak position as it practices all forms of terrorism, however, it did not and will not, God willing, be able to suppress this dawah or tarnish the image of its carriers, because the officers and the masses of the people are all witnesses to this.

O Muslims in Bangladesh, We in Hizb ut Tahrir call upon you to work to abandon this rotten democracy, which brought the destruction to Bangladesh, to throw it deep into the Bay of Bengal, and to work diligently with us to declare it Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood to return the security and safety to Bangladesh, and to raise the banner of “La illaha illa Allah” high above all flags, and Allah is Able over that.

إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ

“If you help Allah, He will help you.”
