Today’s annual women’s conference organized by the Women of Hizb ut Tahrir Malaysia (MHTM) will be attended by more than 400 participants from Malaysia and Indonesia. MHTM aims to emphasize through this conference the following points:

1. As a consequence of the implementation of the capitalist liberal system in Malaysia and other Muslim countries, these states have suffered a significant increase in crimes against women and children (such as rape, different types of abuse, murder) as well as a rise in broken families. Measures carried out to curb this problem are merely patching the damage caused without providing a real solution. This corruption is due to promotion of liberal freedoms which encourage individuals to pursue their selfish individualistic desires without accountancy or monitoring.

2. The capitalist system has not only generated mass poverty, forcing many women into work for financial survival but it has also marketed the idea of women as tools to generate wealth through promoting the narrative that they are an important group who play a vital role in boosting the economy of countries. This has resulted in busying women with earning a living such that they neglect their main role as caretakers of their household and family. Consequently, their children too have become neglected and lost.

3. Under the global capitalist system, Muslim women and children in countries across the world have become victims of those who harbour hatred towards Islam with no state moving to their defence, as in Myanmar, China, Thailand, and Central Africa. Muslim women are subjected to all kinds of horrific assault infact being tortured without a speck of sympathy or compassion from either the Muslim regimes or the international community who stand idle watching their blood being shed and their honour being violated. The children of the Ummah have become orphaned, abandoned, and destitute while others are even brutally murdered with no fault of their own.

4. Therefore, it is clear that the suffering of women and children in all corners of the world today is due to the implementation of the democratic capitalist system which has failed to ensure safety, tranquility and attainment of happiness for its people who implement it, turning its back on women and children without providing them with protection or care.

5. In the Islamic Khilafah throughout its entire glorious history, women and children have lived dignified lives filled with care from all aspects within a state that implemented a just Islamic political system and sound Islamic economic policies that remedied poverty and generated prosperity for all its inhabitants. It was a state where Khalifahs understood their great Islamic responsibility as outlined by Islam to be protectors and guardians of their citizens and ensure they were always provided for. Furthermore, this Islamic system raised the status of women, demanding they be respected by men as well as giving great value to her role as wife and mother. This, coupled with the sublime Islamic values that permeated through the society, aided women in raising generations of outstanding youth who were devout servants of Allah Almighty and a source of goodness for their communities. This is in stark contrast to the democratic, capitalist system where the development of good morality in the young generation is neglected and given less importance than the generation of wealth for corporations and the rich elite.

6. Therefore, we the women of Hizb ut Tahrir Malaysia call out to all Muslims to unite and start in struggling to urgently establish the placement of the Islamic Shariah into practice under the Khilafah system as shown by Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and implemented by the Khulafah ar-Rashidin afterwards. For over 13 centuries, Muslims once lived united under the Islamic Khilafah as one Ummah. It is only under this noble, glorious state that the wealth, dignity and the souls of the Muslims were protected. Muslims became the best Ummah, achieved excellence and glory, unsurpassed by any other people, and dominated the command center in the world as the super power of that era. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says,

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن تَنصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ

“O you who believe! If you help Allah, He will help you and make your feet firm.”

(Muhammad: 7)
