Jakarta- In response to the plan of burning Qur’an by the Church of the Dove World Outreach Center in Florida, United States on 11 September 2010, Hizb ut-Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) rallied across the big cities in Indonesia. HTI denounces and condemns the plan.
The action took place on Friday (3 / 9) and Saturday (4 / 9). In Jakarta, the action was participated by more than 5000 people. They are not only syabab of HTI but also the common people. They marched from The Horse Monument to the United States Embassy which is about 1 km.
They carried posters, flyers, and banners. Some of them read:
“Only the Khalifah can Punish the U.S.!”
“Answer the Qur’an Burning with Jihad!”
“Should You Burn My Qur’an, Woe to you!”
” Establish Khilafah the Protector of Qur’an!”
In the Indonesian Capital, Jakarta, a giant banner was placed directly in front of the U.S. Embassy that read: “The Khilafah: The True Shield of the Qur’an!” In Surabaya, the HTI syabab distributed the Qur’an to the public.
HTI spokesman Ismail Yusanto warned, if the plan of the burning of the Qur’an is actually implemented, it will provoke a strong reaction from the Muslims around the world in various forms. If that happens then there is no party that can control the range and the intensity of reaction that will arise.
HTI strongly condemns the burning plan of Qur’an, because it is a heinous act, uncivilized and very humiliating the honor and the glory of the Qur’an as the Muslim Holy Book.
“Besides, this action would cause tension and even possibly severe conflicts among the religious believers. Therefore, such plan must be prevented,” he said.
However, if the plan of the burning of the Koran is really implemented, this shows the weakness of the Muslims. Because even though they number 1.5 billion people, the Muslims are so weak that they could not protect themselves including their Holy Book.
“Therefore, this event should become the trigger to the spirit and the willingness of the people to re-establish the Sharia and the Khalifah!” said Ismail. According to him, only the Khilafah can really maintain the dignity and the sanctity of the Qur’an from defamation.
The action in Jakarta was centered in front of the U.S. Embassy. In Surabaya, the protesters of HTI rallied in front of the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya. The rally also took place in Yogyakarta, Bandung, Padang, Makassar, Palembang, Malang, Mataram, Tarlac, Pamekasan, and in some other small towns. (HTI Press)
