Hasina Government’s Energy Treachery: Bangladesh’s Energy Security Totally at the Mercy of Dangerous US-Indian Nexus

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated three major Indo-Bangladesh joint venture projects including 500 MW additional power supply from India to Bangladesh on 10th September, 2018 as part of Indian plan to invest $9 billion in Bangladeshi energy sector (“Indian companies to invest $9 billion in Bangladesh energy projects”, The Economic Times, April 11, 2017). Not only is the traitorous Hasina government abetting enemy India as part of US strategy to become a power hub in Southeast Asia but also it is yielding our strategic energy resources to them, leaving us highly vulnerable to energy security threats by our sworn enemy.

Moreover, it was not a matter of coincidence that just a day after the inauguration of the said joint venture, US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Bernicat, on Tuesday, said during a meeting with Sheikh Hasina that her country was interested to invest in the energy sector and export LNG to Bangladesh (“US wants to invest in energy sector”, The Financial Express, September 12, 2018). Due to the growing importance of Bangladesh of its geostrategic location in the Indian Ocean basin and the western fear over the imminent rise of political Islam, US always ensures its strong penetration in our political and economic landscape through our treacherous rulers. Hence we saw on 28th June 2018 that our State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid proactively urged colonialist America to ‘directly invest’ in power and energy sector in Bangladesh during his meeting with US Assistant Secretary of Commerce Ian Steff at International Trade Administration in Washington DC.  It is quite obvious that AL government is desperate to please Mushrik India and the greatest evil on earth USA ahead of national elections at the cost of our energy independence.

O Muslims! These deals with India and the ongoing negotiations with USA reveals the treason of our lackey rulers. Instead of investing in energy infrastructure and strengthening Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Company (BAPEX), which has proven several times to be successful to explore independently in Sunetra, Rashidpur and recently in Bhola, for onshore and offshore gas exploration to get gas and oil at low prices, this treacherous government giving importance on importing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from US and India. When it is just only a matter of political will to control our natural resources by our own financial resources and manpower to produce more electricity at cheap cost, our slavish government has forecasted to buy 7,500MW of electricity from the Mushrik state by 2020 that will leave our energy security at their mercy. This is high time you got rid of these puppet AL-BNP rulers and brought back the promised Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate), which will adopt the policy of becoming a leading state in the region as well as internationally. Unlike these cowardly rulers, the Khalifah (Caliph) will not be submissive in front of the imperialists and their Mushrik allies, nor will he forsake the interests of the Ummah in return for money and power. The righteous Khilafah will not allow private or foreign ownership of our national resources and rather make proper use of national resources to build a strong economy free from any imperialist control. Allah subhanahu wa ta’la says:

وَلَنۡ يَّجۡعَلَ اللّٰهُ لِلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ عَلَى الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ سَبِيۡلًا

“Allah will not allow the disbelievers to have an authority over the believers.”
