False Propaganda Practiced by the Russian Security Services

On June 19th, media propaganda outlets published an interview with someone they described as a Muslim scholar, Raman Silantiv, about the lies of Islamophobia. He stressed that “Hizb ut Tahrir is undoubtedly a “terrorist” party.” Since the party is not banned in Britain and Ukraine, the governments of these countries can use it for their own purposes.” he said. In order to “convince” people of his lies, he added, “In Ukraine there is a great base for Hizb ut Tahrir.

The assertion that Hizb ut Tahrir is a “terrorist” party is a blatant lie practiced by the Russian security services and we have repeatedly rejected this. There is also no evidence that the party is linked to terrorism and all cases filed against the party on participation in terrorist acts are entirely based on nothing, but they all refer to the Supreme Court ruling in 2003 which listed Hizb ut Tahrir as a terrorist organization.

For this reason, half of the political prisoners in Russia are members of Hizb ut Tahrir. The lies of the security services are denounced by the Kremlin’s RT channel, which hosted more than once Hizb ut Tahrir’s media representative in Britain and its members as members of an Islamic political party.

The question remains: who needs this interview now, and why? The answer is that a few days ago, on June 15th, the Moscow military court sentenced five members of Hizb ut Tahrir, who did not deny membership in the party, and insisted that the party could not be classified as a terrorist, and that this claim is baseless. After 5 hours of lawyer’s presentation ridiculing the charges against his client of carrying out acts of terrorism and giving persuasive evidence to anyone who was present in the courtroom, the court’s decision was that those who are being tried were guilty under Article 205, Section 5, paragraph 1, which states that organizing terrorist acts for an organization considered by Russia as a terrorist! Moscow’s military court sentenced Amirkhan Nomontshov to 15 years in prison, Alishir Husainov for 15 years and a half, Sukhrub Eronov for 17 years, Naim Jan Hajayev for 18 years and Mirza Bakhadinov Gorbanov for 16 years with hard labor.

A week earlier, the Court of Appeal of Odessa, Ukraine, overturned the Odyssa court ruling on the arrest of Hizb ut Tahrir member Eldar Valiev. They arrested him at Odessa Airport on 25th May because he was wanted by INTERPOL by Russian investigators on charges of being a member of a terrorist organization. However, after hearing the defense, the judges decided that Valayef and Hizb ut Tahrir had nothing to do with terrorism and decided to release him immediately.

Both trials were covered by the Russian media, raising many questions. The answer is that we have reached the simple fact that the security services are fabricating war on terrorism, which allows them to obtain not only millions of dollars, but also political influence in the country. Therefore, the security services, when bringing a “scholar of religion” like Silantiv for an interview, it is rushing to answer its own questions, so people do not pay attention to the reality of their crimes, including their crimes against Hizb ut Tahrir.

Allah (swt) says:

“And let not those who disbelieve ever think that [because] We extend their time [of enjoyment] it is better for them. We only extend it for them so that they may increase in sin, and for them is a humiliating punishment”

(Al-i-Imran: 178)
