As the referendum day for the new Constitution and the Presidential system gets closer, meetings start to get hotter. On the one hand AKP and MHP announce cooperation to achieve a “yes” result at the referendum, on the other hand CHP and some other nationalist parties are leading “no” campaigns. If I may use the expression, swords are drawn. President Erdoğan who personally participates in the campaign got down to the fields and asks for support from the people for it. It has become a question of life and death for both sides at this point. While Erdoğan makes exciting speeches, we witness that he sometimes decorates his speeches with some Islamic expressions and some other times with the total opposite. And his speech in Elazığ is one of those, while particular expressions he used there are quite interesting.
He states, “Brothers, I ask of those who heard this truth to tell those who did not. First of all the regime is not changing in Turkey. The only thing that changes is the governmental system. We will cherish our republic that was established in 1923, till eternity… Some people are trying to confuse our nation by mixing the right from wrong. Because they too are confused, corrupted in the head…” Truly Erdoğan is a man who leaves one bewildered quite often! One day he declares that his path is holy and that this path of his is the path of Rasulallah (ﷺ) and the next day he has the audacity to defend the republic which conflicts with Islam on a fundamental level with such words “We are guarantors of this system, do not worry, anyone who opposes the Republic will face us.” On the one hand you will claim that you follow the path of the holy Nabee ﷺ and on the other hand you will say that you are the guarantor of the Republic that cleansed Islam from life. Just like I told you, Erdoğan is a weird man… He is one way in the morning and is totally another man in the night… Actually we should give credit to Erdoğan on one ground! Just like he said the regime does not change in Turkey, it is only the system that changes. Erdoğan -America or CHP – English; both sides are doing the guard duty of the republic. The only essential thing for them is the survival of the Republic. Also what is essential for them is to prevent the Khilafah from finding life and rising to power. But Erdoğan’s “We will cherish the republic founded in 1923, till eternity” statement does absolutely not reflect the truth. He knows just as well that the Republic is living its last days. Because Rasullallah ﷺ has informed us that the Khilafah Rashidah upon the Method of the Prophethood will be established again after the time of the tyrant dictators. So it does not matter how much they try to protect this system, -Allah willing- soon it will be thrown into the garbage of history.
Though while these things conspire; some short-sighted Muslim groups or organisations support the referendum in order to serve their own interests. They say “yes” to the new constitution and the presidential system. Of course this is a sad and annoying situation. It is expected of Muslims to view incidents from the Sharia point of view. The groups who lost this view have become the stay for the referendum. While Rasullallah ﷺ says: «اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ» “Fear the perception of a Muslim. Because he looks with Noor of Allah”, in other words he looks from the point of Islamic Aqeedah and responds according to that. So Muslims should say neither “yes” nor “no” but direct their efforts for the establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah.
