Five of our noble sisters of Hizb ut Tahrir, among which there is a 16-year-old girl and a baby of 4 months where taken by force from their homes on the 23rd of February in Ankara. They were transported 300 km from their hometown Ankara to Afyon for interrogation. Their crime was making a video reminding the Ummah of their noble history in commemoration of the 100th year of the fall of the Khilafah state (Caliphate).

Comment:
Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is well known for his frequent references to the Khilafah state, the Ottoman Empire. He uses it as a source of grandeur, admiration, and as an example to Turkey and the world.
During a commemoration ceremony in 2018 to mark the centenary of the death of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II at the Yildiz Palace in Istanbul, Erdogan said: “The Republic of Turkey, just like our previous states that are a continuation of one another, is also a continuation of the Ottomans. “Of course, the borders have changed. Forms of government have changed… But the essence is the same, soul is the same, even many institutions are the same.” He continued: “Some people insistently try to start this country’s history from 1923. Some unrelentingly try to break us from our roots and ancient values,” he added.

So to which essence or soul is he referring to? Is he speaking about the high esteem the Ottoman State had regarding the treatment of women, when he himself allows the noble sisters of this Ummah, the granddaughters of the Ottoman State to be taken by force from their homes in the early hours of the morning? When all that they have done is to speak of this very essence and soul, which fell a 100 years ago.

They spoke about how the world is in need of the re-establishment of this noble state. Subhanallah, how true are their words! And how wicked is the response of regime of Tayyip Erdogan who claims the be an extension of the Ottoman Khilafah? As he ordered the harassment of these noble sisters, by taking them from the safety of their homes to the interrogation table as criminals.

Sadly we are not surprised by these actions, as this is just one of the many inconsistencies between words spoken by Tayyip Erdogan and his actions. Even his Uyghur Muslims brethren have been betrayed by Erdogan’s government. On the one hand referring to the ill treatment of China’s Uyghur minority in China as “a great embarrassment for humanity”, and on the other hand continuing to hand over Uyghur asylum seekers to China, knowing full well what their fate will be. To put it in the words of the Turkish foreign ministry “subjected to torture and political brainwashing”.

Sadly, there are many examples, like his stance on the Blessed Land of Palestine to his cosy relationship with the enemies of Islam, e.g. the US and Russia. Erdogan lost his credibility a long time ago.

The arrest of our noble Ottoman granddaughters is yet another demonstration of his deceptive policies. Instead of hollow Islamic rhetoric, let us work to re-establish the true implementation of Islam, through the Khilafah State. A state which will protect all its citizens with words which are followed up by actions.
