Capitalism: An Ideology of Immorality

Tanzanian media outlets reported on the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mrs. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s statement urging religious leaders to mould youths on good morals, since many of them have been embraced western values which leads to moral deterioration.

Comment:

The Vice Presidents’ statement comes at a time when there is a hot public debate concerning some musical artists embracing some strange traits that are inconsistent with social norms.

The issues of ethics and moral deterioration have a critical discussion and great concern in both national and international levels, whereas states, such as the US, UK and most Western nations which are proponents of democracy are major victims of immorality.

It is a topic that clergymen, thinkers, politicians and policy makers raise their outcry in a negative way since a great number of youths and people in general are going astray.

Many youths, especially in urban areas, do not have good morals and characters due to the imitation of Western values.

The main reason behind immorality is a capitalist foundation of secularism, separation of religion from the public sphere, which teaches to disregard religion or to practise it only in rituals in houses of worships, while in public life adopt secular values that encourage immorality as a product of the Western civilization. Furthermore, secularism idea brought a concept of freedom which pushed many youths and humankind in general in immorality from the idea of individual freedom.

Among the catastrophic outcome of capitalist democracy ideology is cultural and intellectual slavery to Muslims and human kind by blindly imitating its destructive culture and outlook. It is unfortunate situation that made many to think that the Western material progress, achievements in science and technology qualify them to be role models when it comes to morality.

To counter immorality, the third world, including Tanzania, need to dump and distance away from the capitalist democracy and embrace the alternative ideology of Islam.

Africa under Islam would be a better place in terms of morality and all its welfare, as it  once flourished and was a model for Europeans to follow.

Islam has an ultimate and a comprehensive social system which can create harmonious society.
