Mr Cameron said UK air strikes against IS in Iraq were having an effect even if they made Britain a target. “I think that frankly, we are a target. They have declared war on us, they are attacking our people at home and overseas whether we like it or not… They are attacking our way of life and what we stand for. ”
“There are people in Iraq and Syria who are plotting to carry out terrible acts in Britain and elsewhere and as long as ISIL exists in those two countries we are at threat.” The PM likened the fight against IS to that against communism: “It’s a battle of our values and our narrative against their values and their narrative. We have to get that right as well as the military end of things.” He said it wasn’t enough to “destroy [IS] at source”, adding: “We have to deal with this appalling radical narrative that’s taking over the minds of young people in our country.” [BBC 29/06/15]
Comment:
Cameron leads the way again in the politics of scaremongering, which smacks of his desperation to make IS and regular Islamic values synonymous. The “appalling radical narrative that’s taking over the minds of young people in our country” as he describes, which ‘he’ seeks to “destroy”… is the mere thought that Islam is to be implemented holistically and that the noble Shariah of Allah سبحانه وتعالى, the very Sunnah of our beloved Rasool Allah ﷺ is the sovereign rule. Every Muslims’ shahada/testimony of faith, gives allegiance to this idea and Cameron will never be able to carve out his own narrative that suggests otherwise.
To support his threat to destroy the pure Islamic thought, Cameron, along with IS claims that what we witness today in Iraq is in line with Shariah and Islamic values towards women, minorities and belligerents. However the global Muslim Ummah of over 1.2 billion is already equipped to recognise the correct Islamic beliefs and values and so will not be cornered into fearfully forgoing their core Islamic beliefs and values to please Cameron and his ilk.
The call to rid the traitor rulers of the Muslims, to reinstate Islamic legal, economic and social systems to value women, protect minorities and deal with belligerents correctly will prevail, whether this view is criminalised or vilified as extreme, because Muslims know that Allah سبحانه وتعالى has promised them the victory. Imam Ahmad extracted in his Musnad (5-114) on the authority of Ubay Ibnu Abi Ka’ab (ra) that he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
»بَشِّرْ أُمَّتِي بِالسَّنَاءِ، وَالرِّفْعَةِ، وَالتَّمْكِينِ فِي الْبِلادِ، مَا لَمْ يَطْلُبُوا الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الآخِرَةِ، فَمَنْ طَلَبَ الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الآخِرَةِ، لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنْ نَصِيبٍ«
“Bring glad tidings to this Ummah, she will have the power, the pride, the deen, the victory and the authority on earth. So he who worked to reap the rewards in this life rather than in the hereafter, he would have no reward in the hereafter.”
Also in the book of Ibnu Asakir entitled the Great History of Damascus, Yunis Ibnu Maysara Ibnu Halbas is reported to have said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
»هَذَا الأَمْرُ كَائِنٌ بَعْدِي بِالْمَدِينَةِ، ثُمَّ بِالشَّامِ، ثُمَّ بِالْجَزِيرَةِ، ثُمَّ بِالْعِرَاقِ، ثُمَّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، ثُمَّ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ، فَإِذَا كَانَ بِبَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ فَثَمَّ عُقْرُ دَارِهَا، وَلَنْ يُخْرِجَهَا قَوْمٌ فَتَعُودَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَبَدًا«
“This rule (i.e. the Khilafah) will be after me in Madina, then in Al-Sham, then in the peninsula, then in Iraq, then in Madina, then in Bayt Al-Maqdis (Al-Quds), and when the rule is established in Al-Quds, that would be its place, and thereafter nobody will be able to remove it.”
